Hello, I just got myself a very nice silver 2008 IS250 with a manual transmission. I am not out to make this thing a speed demon but I would like to get a little more noise out of it, nothing obnoxious. Would also like to find some black OEM wheels but the dealer told me I shouldn't go from stock 17" wheels to 18" wheels because it will mess with the speedometer. Does anyone have suggestions or solutions for an exhaust or wheels?

You can replace the muffler section of the exhaust with an axleback

No issues here. The speedometer only cares about the overall diameter of the tires. So if you have a bigger wheel, you get smaller/skinnier/thinner tires to make up for the inch.

If you switch to 18s and use the OEM tire size, then your tire diameter of the new set will be very close to your old 17 set and the speedo will barely notice, e.g. my 06 with optional 18s uses 255/40-18 on the back ; the 17" version used a 245/45-17 which is just 1.2 % smaller diameter

wrt your exhaust sound, I would start by eliminating/replacing the resonator (in the middle of car) ..;
you could start by having it replaced with straight pipe (low cost lol) and see if you like it, if not then swap a different res in it's place.. I understand that one of the 2 rear mufflers is actually a drone-cancelling J pipe, so if you swap that out with a "normal" muffler, or with just tips like I did, then expect drone ..
