i got my summer tires on and ive been fine in the snow...it only goes bad when i push it...that just gets fun when you have to try and control all that power without any traction whatsoever lol

Ill have to disagree with max and tin. No way you can handle the car with ease with 3 inches of snow and on inclines with snow tires. Ill give you that you can make it move in a straight line and back but not much else. Without snow tires the IS just cant handle inclines

LOL you all crack me up. Even though snow tires are def better. Driving with a bit of common sense goes a long way with summer tires. I have driven through mountain passes in the dead of winter in a snowstorm. Car at the time was a Mustang SVO. YOU KNOW. Fords best mustang ever. Anyway. I had wide as$ performance tires and never had a problem. And theres not a car out there including the lex that is lighter in the as$. Just drove home on iced roads and the lex performed beautifully(summer tires). I think ill drive my S14 with lsd and low pros and have my fun. Lol good luck out there and drive with courage and brains and you will be fine.

If you drive in any SNOW with performance summer tires, you are asking to get into an accident. Not to mention, having LSD will not help you any if you have a loss in traction in both wheels(our LSD is torque sensing, so it needs traction to perform). If you don't have snow tires on the IS, it definitely won't work so well at all during any snowfall. How do I know? Because I've had my car for over a decade and can't even move it if there is any snowfall on the ground and if I only have performance tires on. All seasons are just as worse and provide nothing compared to snow tires, so they are pretty much a waste of money. Hopefully you don't drive anywhere near me lol.

FAIL

Snow tires are a good idea for the IS if you do expect snow. Come and live in Canada if you don't believe me.

But he did it a few times and there was canyons and stuff and he was ok! Surely it is safe, no? What do we know, we live in Canada.

All kidding aside, while I do agree the benefit of snow tires will easily be outstripped by stupidity behind the wheels, however I would never advocate running summer tires in snowy and icy conditions. Day in and day out, you're just asking for it.

atleast in BC

if you get in an accident when its snowing and don't have proper tires ICBC can/will deny your claim...

No winter tires? So you think you're invincible? - The Globe and Mail

What is this talk about summer tires on the IS in the snow?? hahah i will take a video of my car with my brand new 18's(summer tires) try to pull up my drive way, which is snow plowed and it would probably make it about three feet out the garage before getting stuck and its up the slightest angle a driveway could have.
Can it be done with all seasons? yes probably, but your pressing your luck and with summer tires you might as well call AAA as they usually take a while.
