Hey guys my 5 year old walbro fuel pump just took a dump. Anyways I have heard of these new Aeromotive 340lph stealth fuel pumps and with the little reviews.. are looking good so far. Many say its way quieter then the walbro so I decided to order it and give it a try. Right now i have stock feed lines with aeromotive 1:1 and a -6an return. Im hoping my system can handle this pump.. do you guys think I need bigger lines? Anyways it's coming in wednesday and thats when ill install it, ill post pictures and review soon after.

Let me know what you guys think

This will soon be the standard. I'm going to be running Deatschwerks pumps myself.

IMO Deatschwerks are better and with a better warranty.

Some people also add some dynamat over the fuel tank under the rear seats to mask some of the sound. Not sure how effective it is, but it couldn't hurt...

This is what I've done and no one has a clue there's any non-stock fuel pump noise in my car. It's barely audible over the running motor if you listen for it.

I had big hopes for this pump. I'm really really hoping to see a single pump capable of 600hp when I need to upgrade.

the new aeromotive pumps are supposed to be pretty good. we haven't had the chance to install one or test one out yet at my shop, but aeromotive has been around for quite some time. im sure they will be as good as they advertise. would be a great pump for anyone looking to get around the 600 range without having to go with dual pumps.

I'm very interested in hearing more about this. My single Walbro 255 was good for 450 rwhp. I was under the impression my only alternative was to run dual Walbro's with an expensive SRT hanger. My final goal is 600 rwhp, so I may just give this a try myself!!

From MDeniz from Titan about the Aeromotive's

These pumps are not supposed to out flow a walbro by 40%....at 70+ Psi all they do is around 40lphish more than a walbro 255...
Btw, a modded walbro will flow MORE than these new pumps.

Take home story, they're better than a standard Walbro, but it doesn't flip it upside down. Its a little bit better flow and less noisy. Personally, I'm getting the Deatschwerks because it flows a tiny bit more than the Aeromotive, but more importantly they have a no fault 3 year warranty. Aeromotive has a 1 year. If you really want to know more about the graphs and everything comparing all of them, check out the Honda Tech forums i've been researching about these pumps. You'll see the aeromotive and the deatchwerks are very similar. I just cannot stand listening to that infernal dual walbros sound LOL. So far there is one negative review on the Aeromotive that i've seen.... i'll post it here:

We were at our local dyno (STP Motorpsorts) last week with a single walbro 255HP in tank and were running out of fuel right around 500whp. Ok figured it is time for a 2nd pump, no big deal, but then saw these 340lph pumps! There flow is higher at every pressure compared to the walbro 255HP so we figured why not. Put in the Aeromotive pump (these are exceptionally quieter than the Walbro255HP) and it runs out of fuel in the EXACT same place (500whp). At this point we upgrade the wiring while on the dyno and that gave us 1-2 points of fuel back up top! Great. That probably would have helped the walbro out as well.

We do a few back to back (few minutes of resting between) and as the pump heated up the flow just DIVED. I could let the car sit (and we did) for roughly 10+ minutes and do a pull and it went way rich again. If I didn't allow for any significant downtime the flow would fall off. We fought with it for a good 2+ hours and got the same repeated results. I have datalogs of each run and nothing went crazy. Same injector duty cycles, same intake/coolant temps, same timing, same fuel pressures....

For now I'm keeping my Walbros.

wow, yeah let us know when you get it in, and install it.
i dont wanna go the dual pump route unless i have to(cheaper alternative) i don't wanna see more that 450.

also where did you buy it from? i clicked on the link, clicked buy to see how much it was and couldn't find it.

Btw, a modded walbro will flow MORE than these new pumps.
how do you mod a walbro? im kind of interested... any disadvantages? like kills the pump faster?

Buschur Racing (huge name in the evo world if anyone doesn't know) does a modded walbro. I believe what he does is he removes the flow restrictor by piercing a hole in it. Flows a LOT more. However, im not 100% sure if he does anything else with them.... I would think that they would kill the pump faster, yes. In my opinion, whenever you're running more than one pump... its HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended running a Fuel Pressure sensor of your EMS so you don't lean out and blow your motor.

I'm trying to run Twin Deatchwerks Pumps running E85 off a SRT Twin Hanger. The Aeromotive and Deatchwerks pumps are designed to be extremely similar in size to the GSS342 Walbro which the Hanger was developed for. If it doesn't fit, i'll be doing some fine tooth modding to make it fit :)

Ideally the best way for me would be to run 2 Denso or Bosch 044 pumps, but the IS300 has very limited space for it to work.

Even further, if you had 1000hp or more goals, running a Weldon or Magnafuel setup would be ideal, however, I can't stand the noise those things make. In my opinion, those setups are perfect for cars that are occasionally driven....

Does anyone know of a dual pump hanger other than the SRT hanger? I've been hearing rumors of them, but I'm too lazy to search right now ;)

Jay's racing is currently developing one... and even possibly a triple hanger.

There is currently a heated debate with the person I quoted in my earlier post and we'll see how it unfolds:

Aeromotive 340 intank pumps flow charts/review

JayRacing has just released its competition to the AEro and Deatchwerks pumps as well.

Same size and everything as the aero or DW.

They have a flow chart where they tested their against both aero and deatchwerks and came out flowing a little better.

Ill see if I can find the graph.

I paid 170 shipped. It's actually not coming till tomorrow. As far as review I can only tell u about the noise until I do a retune when I install the new tranny in a couple weeks

correct, only running 1 pump on my set up, 780cc injectors..

I was planning on going dual pumps and more power, but 500rwp is plenty enough for me, I honestly do not need/nor want anymore...

1 Walbro 255HP pump can support over 450whp but I think anything more then that is pushing it. JBAKER is pushing 470whp on pump gas with OEM fuel lines and just 1 Walbro 255 and a fuel return setup. Sometimes it is necessary to over enginer certain parts of your setup for reliability reasons. Skimpping on the fuel system is a bad idea and not something I would do on my car or others. When you start coming up on 470ish hp and 500ish hp thats when you really need to start thinking about your fuel system and your power goals.

#27 ·
I also heard that 1 Walbro 255 is good for up to 500WHP (on N/A cars so it might be a little less on turbo cars).

I am having the PHR dual pump hanger, but there was a slight mod to do
to make the Walbro fixed and there is no 3rd outlet on the cover, so if you want to run a 2nd Walbro on a return system, another custom job would be necessary. ;)

#28 ·
I went with the SRT Dual pump hanger because I have both feed fittings and a return fitting. I am not sure if the PHR hanger has that which is why I didnt go with that. The down side to the SRT hanger is it only allows for the Walbro 255 pump. If I want to go with something different I would have to make sure it fits the SRT hanger or make something to allow for new pumps.

I also wanted to go with the SRT hanger, it looks really good, !!BUT!! I didn't want to play around with SRT's bad customer service they had to this time, I was waiting +2 months for the intake, didn't know if I would get it at all and didn't want to sample this again. :pissed:
