Turning Circle/Radius Revisited

To everyone who has driven or owns an IS300, how is the turning circle/radius? Is it more like 34.1 ft or 37.4 ft?

I was thinking about it again because my friend who owns a C-Class made a u-turn on my street easy. Comparatively, my mom's ES300 needs to make a three point turn to turn around on my street. The Lexus literature gives the turning radius of the '92 ES300 as 36.7 ft; MB literature says the C-Class turning radius (curb to curb) is 35.2 ft.

The Lexus brochure says 34.1.
The www.lexus.com/is web site say 34.1

*BUT* multiple magazine reviews say 37.4

I was told that the main confusion is that one measurement (known as "curb to curb") measures the diameter of a circle scribed by the tires. The other measure (known as "wall to wall") measures a circle scribed by the bumpers of the car.

I don't know if either of these "techniques" is the one that most car magazines report, or if they are both common. I wish this statistic was published more clearly.

The IS300 will definently have a smaller turning radious than ES300 and Eclipse. Because IS300 is a RWD as well as your friend's MB. Both Es300 and Eclipse are FWD where the front wheels not only need to turn, as well as power the car. According to Lexus, 34.7 is one of the smallest turning radious out there. So don't worry.
