I just grabbed a shorty anteanna off ebay and it looks good but there is about 1/4" that stick out and doesnt sit flush with the base. This is just because the screw adapter they sent was a little too long whats the best way to cut a screw down? Dremel, file, not sure.

I cut the stock one just where the skinny part begins, then super glued the rounded tip that sits on top of the skinny part back onto the base. It looks cool and no reception problems, but I live near S.F where there are some major stations.

i was scared to cut my stock one in fear of total loss of all radio transmission but since you say it worked i might try your idea. ;)

the antenna off an acura mdx or rx330 will fit fine, the latter with very little modification(i.e. cutting the rubber around the base a little) and work great for reception i think, though i never really listen to the sh*tty radio anyway...
