Rear Fog lamp switch part #

So has anyone tried this and verify it works with only a new switch.

I know the harness is already there. ARe there any other mods required other than the switch?

Attached is the wiring diagram for the rear fog light circuit.

Someone with an electrical background can review this and verify this switch will work with our current wire harness setup.

Since no one will spend $50 to try this. How about this idea:

I looked at the schematic, and it looks like if you take a wire and jumper terminal 3 and 1 together, the rear fog may light up.

Teminal 3 wire is white with red strip
Teminal 1 is green with Orange or yellow strip.

Teminal 3 wire is a live battery wire with around 13 volts. If you have a volt meter, hook it up to terminal 3 and ground and check you have around 13 volts.

If jumpering terminal 1 and 3 works, you may not need the $50 switch. You can get any on-off switch for the rear fog.

You may need to key ignition switch on to ensure this works.

The only caution is to check that when the ignition is turned off, the power source to this light is also turned off. If not, you will have to remember to turn this off when you leave the car or you risk draining your battery.

I just looked at the Power Source schematic. It looks like terminal 3 is a live wire even with the ignition key off.

So you can still jumper 1 and 3 to ensure this works. If it does, the best bet is to buy the $50 switch so you don't risk draining the battery with your own switch when you forget to turn it off.

When I worked on my headlight adjustment knob, I was able to pop off the blank tab from reaching under the kick panel and pushing it out from behind. I did not have to disassemble it to get it out. It took 1 minute to do.

It is a little tight in there. If you have big arms, you'll need to remove the kick panel.

Guys, the relay for the rear fog light is internal in the rear fog switch itself. If you bought the switch, the relay is built in. The only thing between the switch and the rear fog bulbs are wires and connectors. With that said, if the switch does not turn on the rear fogs when your headlight is on, I suspect it is missing some wires or connectors for this to work.

Seven, when you look at the wiring diagram, follow terminal 1. Terminal 1 should go to the light bulb. There are a bunch of connectors between terminal 1 and the bulbs. Perhaps some of these are not there.

Looks like terminal 7 should be ground. Someone check this.
We already estabished terminal 3 works since there is battery voltage there
Wiring for termnal 2 works because Rallymaster said the indicator lights up.
I don't know how to intrepret terminal 5. Looks like there should be current to terminal 5 when the headlight is turned on. Check this for functionality.

Tom, can you attach BE66 and BE49. I cannot find those since my electronic manual are not titled that way.

From the diagram and the comments on the diagram, it says it is a switching circuit. I take that to mean that when you have rear fog, you don't have trunk brake lights. But when rear fog is off, you do have trunk brake light. I think what I'm saying in contrary to what you said because the switching circuit will take care of itself.

My question is where is this switching circuit. Is it a relay and where is this relay and are US versions equiped with this relay.

Last night, I jumpered terminals 1 & 3 together to see if it would turn on the rear fogs. Nothing happened even when I turned on the headlights including turning on the front fog. I suspect the problem is in terminal 1 side of the wire harness. Perhaps this missing switching relay should be somewhere down stream of terminal 1 wire harness. Terminal 3 is good, I have battery voltage. Terminal 7 is also good, I have ground. I forgot what I got on the other terminals but I don't think it matters. The key is to get terminal 1 and 3 jumpered and that should activated the rear fogs. Since I have battery voltage on terminal 3, the problem goes back to the wire harness downstream of terminal 1.

I need to test the resistance between terminal 1 and ground. This resistance should be the resistance of the bulbs.
