I don't know if 01 is much different from my 03.
03 has one light that is used to light up all the gear box (P,R,N...)
This tut on putting a light in the cup holder will show you how to get to the light for the gear box.
Tutorial
Once you get it open, then replace the light. Its a t5 wedge light. Just like the ashtray and glove box.

While we r on the topic of gear lights for some reason mine work sometimes then dont another time. i have to like slap the center to get them to light.

 

I went ahead and folllow the previous tutorial posted DANNKNEE.... I was able to find out that the bulb was burnt but als the clear coer holder for the bulb assy was broken... I was able to replace the bulb with a Sylvania 74LL reg but bulb the one there was a l.e.d. but could not find one at the local parts store......

 

I was planning to do this mod with all of my LED conversions...
gonna post a DIY when I do this.
