Hey,
I am looking for an all round great car and i have came across the lexus IS range and i have been looking at both the lexus is200 and is300, but i have been told when you are driving the is200 it feels like there isnt enough power when you put your foot down.
Is this the case?
or is it still pretty powerful?
and is there much difference between the is200 and is300 other than the engine size?

thanks

to settle the conflict

to settle all your conflict here i did mean is200, i no it has a smaller engine and ofcourse that makes the is300 alot faster. But my question is, is does the is200 still have a good amount of power wile driving it or is it just a pushover?

and other than the engine what else is different between the two?

There's also the minor difference of right hand drive.

The Lexus IS300 isn't a real Lexus at all. Its borrowed from Toyota in Japan aka Altezza. It had a 3SGE series motor in it (2.0) I think it has 168HP and its built by Kanto motorworks in Japan, the same guys that built the 7th gen Celica.
Lexus stuffed the 3.0 in it because no one would buy a Lexus with a 4-banger in it.
Coincidenatally, I was playing Gran Turismo 2 on PS1 yesterday and it had
a bunch of info on it in the game. It was called a Lexus IS200 in the game, but I don't think IS200 really exists. It's either an IS300 here in the states, or an Altezza in Japan.

I am in Australia and there is both the is200 and is300, so there is no myth because i saw them both today.
Havent yet been able to drive them because i was getting the car checked out first but they are defonately REAL cars both the 200 and 300 to settle all this.
I already told you that...did you not look at the links and information that I gave you 8 posts ago?

The "answer"

I HAD THE IS200 FOR 3 YEARS (MT).

- felt decent fast at the time, I could pull on 2.4 A6's, and MB 230kompressors. (somehow...)
- feels faster than it is because of engine note and high rpms
- huge downer is the high gearing, which leaves you in the 3000rpm stage while in 60mph / 100km/h in 6th gear......

- THEN I GOT THE IS250(AT).

- feels a whole lot of faster, and it is!
- doesnt feel as fast as it is, so smooth and cruises at 1800rpm in 60mph
- mellow exhaust note that doesnt sound that fast.

- THEN MY FRIEND GOT THE IS300 RECENTLY (AT)

- great low end grunt
- much lower gearing than the IS200
- feels even a little faster than the IS250, especially a little more grunt at low rpm's - BUT as we do more and more side by side comparisons, the IS250 is pretty much a little faster inn all aspects and scenarios for some reason..I believe the transmission has alot to do with it.

To "answer" you question; the IS200 might have the power you need, but not if you try the 250 or 300 at some stage..this is all individual...

then again, I recently tried the 350 and already crave for more....and then I also tried the 07 STi...blamn I wish I never did that....
