hey I know that these two cars are on a totally seperate field but, I want to know what would you guys prefer in terms of getting the ladies?

Definetly the IS. The Stang is not only butt ugly but the technology has been obsolete for 4 decades now. The IS offer features that the Stang cant touch like HID's, pop up Voice Navigation, quality interior, great safety features and a phat, aggressive(but clean too) body. If a female cant appreciate an IS over a Rustang, then you are way better off without her. Just my 2 cents worth.

neither...get a BMW...Any BMW, if attracting women is your #1 priority.

BMW's show sophistication, like Benz, Audi

Lexus, Infiniti, Acura high-level, durable, RELIABLE commuter cars

Caddy, Lincoln stay FAR away....

Z28, GT, Firebird V8 powered rockets from Detroit. They may not be the most technologically advanced, but don't underestimate raw US horsepower.

You high and delusional.. The IS300 is a Drivers car with more Eye appeal then the BMW 3 series (excluding the M3 of course).

Open your damn Eyes and see for your self..

Yeah I agree with you Carbon, most of the bimmer models look dated, they're nice but nothing really new(Xcept the M3 omg, can we say $iK?) For me personally as high school student, the girls love the IS. Maybe they'd go for the GT if I was driven an ES or somethin, but this is a classy sports car. All in all they're more interested in looks,interior/exterior, a field where the Lex owns the GT. Haha, most of the girls at my school are like, why do you want to change it? It's perfect! ...cuz I wanna go faster...(duh) Anyways, this is just what I've noticed, hope it helps =D

what type of "ladies" are we talking about here?

I am fully aware that the domestic sports cars are full of "raw power". But there is a difference between raw power with ancient suspension and decent power with well engineered suspension. The IS may not have the power that the rustang does but it can easily be made to exceed that and the Mustangs ONLY feature is the power. The IS300 has the Stang slapped to the ground.
It's simply a nicer, more respectable and fun to drive car. In the rustang, you can lose it just by running over some spit in the road, personally thats not for me.

But beside the point we are discussing, every Saleen rustang, SS Camaro, Trans AM WS6, Z06 Vette have all lost to my GT-R on street tires so I have them all spanked and my car gets 22.5 mpg and is a 2.6. Just goes to show that all the power in the world means dick if you cant it to the ground.

I have to say that you are not entirely correct but as a general maybe you are correct most of the time. One thing you are forgetting, is that your "GT-R" may be able to outrun all these cars while they are "stock". The one thing that you have easily forgotten is that all those cars are easily modded and it is cheaper to mod a domestic. I have chosen an IS because it is a nice sleek daily driver, but in no way am I going to fool myself or anyone else into thinking that this is a great racing car. It just isn't. I have no problems with these cars pushing out 11's 12's, but to be totally honest, how hard do you think it would be to get a V8 to do the same thing.

Sorry this is long, but my last problem, is that when talking drag racing, you cannot compete with these other cars, once you allow them the same mods that you have done, you are comparing your fully modded car to those stock cars. The last thing you can talk about is suspension and cornering and all that crap, well, don't bring that up if all you are worried about is a 1/4 mile time.

That was way too long, I am sorry, but just a little venting. I have been lurking for awhile now and I really like the forums. I will have my new IS in about 1 week.

have your ever parked your IS beside any Bimmer (including M3, M5)? you will notice how boring BMWs are.

"every Saleen Mustang, SS Camaro, Trans AM WS6, Z06 Vette"

These cars will be "classics" in 20 years your GTR will be in a scrapyard by then waiting to become a dishwasher.

don't forget NOS and superchargers are made for muscle cars too. You want to talk suspension, talk to Steeda, or Saleen, dollar for dollar mod for mod a Camaro SS or Z06 or Cobra will beat Nissan, Mitsu, Honda, whatever.

Your Jap car is not fast to begin with so why try to make it so. Buy a fast car ('Vette,Cobra,SS), upgrade the suspension and then make it faster. Leave Nissan and Honda etc. for soccer moms dropping the kids off at school.

I take it many of you are not familiar enough with the Skyline GT-R to appreciate it. The car ran a 12.9 STOCK. So for those of you (9mm) who think it's not fast enough to begin with, go start on an education. I will never deny the fact that you can make a domestic faster with less or the same money but thats because the technology is dated and dated things become cheap over time. There has been 4 decades+ of aftermarket for those cars.

I am by no means comparing my Skyline with stock SS's, Z06's, and Saleens. I dont even bother racing SS's and Saleens stock because they are no where near fast enough to justify the risk when racing. I have raced more supercharged nitrous equipped examples than I can count as well as having 3 Vipers(to of them GT-S R's) and 4 new 911 Turbos on the whooped list. If anyone here thinks Vipers and 911 turbos need to be modded to be considered good wins, they have some learning to do. The Z06's I will run anytime because with a good driver behind the wheel, they can be quite fast and a decent challenge though every one I have raced has lost.

My Skyline made 571 hp @ the wheels with nothing but BOLT ON's. If that doesnt demonstrate the Skylines tunability then I dont know what does. It's a 2.6 liter IL6 turbo, I'd say thats pretty impressive. When it comes down to it, Domestics can be fast, but they are less than impressive on street tires considering the power they can throw down. To really use that power requires slicks and I dont see a whole lot of slick equipped cars on the street. Low 11's(corrected to LA altitude) on street tires will shut just about anyone up who thinks they have the upper hand. Consistent 1.69-1.71 0-60 foot times will too. To be honest, all that displacement is a thing of the past, that amount of fuel and cylinders are just not necessary to go that fast these days. Thats all I have to say. I dont mean to offend anyone who is a Domestic lover, but come on, it's 2002 now, try catching up with the technology already.

Later

before i believe all of this skyline smack, how about some pics

also, how are you only running 11.80's and 119mph with 571whp ?

also, how does the car run 12.90's stock, i know they are fast, but i have never seen that documented?

if you have any questions about domestics on street tires, watch the GN/Ttypes and typhoon/syclones.

in case you are curious, i have an IS3, and i am a big supra fan (i'm sure you are familiar with the supra, at least the supras taillights  )

Hi, the 11.81 was at 505hp @ the wheels. That time was also at 3,000ft elevation on Palmdales crappy track surface. Since the last time I had it at the track, it made 571 with a water injection system though I am running methanol in it and that allows me to run higher boost which is where I got the higher number.

I have a lot of pics but this forum is set up different from other forums and I dont know how to attatch them or I definetly would have. Tell me how and they will be up. I am also a big Supra fan myself, if it were not for the Skyline, I would be driving a Supra. I have to tell you though, I have never lost to a Supra either and I have raced quite a few off the line and on the 101 and 405 freeways.

I dont expect you to beleive the stock 1/4 mile times as most people dont so I will just say that that is on you. If you look on the internet long enough, sooner or later you will find some times that were recorded in a GT-R that was actually launched, not just low rpm off the line in which case it runs mid to low 13's.

The Typhoons and Syclones are no joke, some are ridiculously fast and I have a lot of respect for those. Gn's too though I think all three are not very pretty.

Anyway, I have an IS also and I can say that it is a lot of fun to drive and I love it. Cant wait till I get the turbo kit for it!!

Thanks for all your input.

i still think that car should go faster than 11.80's @ 505 to the wheels, i know it is a bit heavy, but that is plenty of power.

anyways, what % mix are you using with the methanol...what type of injection system, and how many injectors?

i'll be able to help you with the IS turbo kit, i'm sure

i'm glad you have equal respect for supras, i also have respect for the skyline, especially in its computer controlled center diff, with the special engagement motor, thats a pretty awesome design in my opinion, i would love to see some underside pics of how the drivetrain reaches the front wheels, i know there is some sort of axle seals, where the drivers side (i think) axle runs through the oil pan? thats pretty trick, i have just never seen any up close pics of it, lmk
