I dont know about the converters, but i do know the spring packs used in the solenoids are different between the A650E used on the IS/Altezza 2J, the one used on the Altezza RS 3GSE, and the one used on the V8 LS/GS. Chances are the stall will be different as all those engines will have different torque profiles.

I've always wondered why people didn't dig out parts from the GS400/GS430 trans to upgrade their IS trans'es.

After reading about the A650e and all the threads on the rods and spring packers a few years ago i wondered the same, it may not be a huge difference but it was obviously enhanced to be able to take the power and torque of the bigger V8 motor. Also found it interesting they used the same trans on the Altezza RS which has the 4 pot 3SGE which has a similar power to the 2J but less torque, made me wonder how reliable it was with the V8 but havent really read many complain about it apart from the same gripes as the 2J owners.
