I recently talked to a Lexus executive and he said that there will be two V6 engines offered in North America. Interestingly, he did not mention a 3.0 engine. The 3.5 V6 is supposed to be at least 300 hp and be competitive in performance to a BMW M3!

well, since you have 1 post so far, im betting this is NEW info and you must be correct.

*clink* insert lock here......

fyi, do a search, this has been beaten to DEATH. Until you have a photo of the new IS at the dealership or a new book on it, then dont post speculations.

my best friends brothers sister told this guy that he saw a a girl that knew a guy that owns lexus and his good friend said that his roommate talked to his cousin who said that the new IS will be 1000 hp and will feature hovering technology.

I can only say that this information is from a high level executive that works in the headquarters in Lexus Canada. He has even test driven the new GS in Japan against the BMW 5 series and E class on a test track so I am sure that he knows more about the IS than anyone on this forum. I don't even drive an IS but I thought that this would be interesting information.

targis, thanks. But first, there are over 22k members on this site, so that's a pretty bold statement. There are many different kinds of people here...

Yes, thank you for your intent! That's how we get most of our info. ;)

do you guys think that some lexus executive or someone working in lexus operations of some sort read these forums to get a better understanding on opinions of the IS300 to improve on the next generation? Kind of like researching and digging up unsolicited feedback?
obviously not because we dont have our TT IS350GTE's. :pissed:

They do, there are people that have other jobs within the company but are sometimes assigned jobs to do what's called "fly on the wall" work.

They go to different forums and just click around "troll" they take notes a report to their higher-ups. We've had topics on this a while back here at .net. We only know of them because of information we have received from higher-ups at Lexus that jruhi talks to, and from articles in magazines like Car and Driver.

We know they're out there and just because we'd like a stock turbo or s/c, they have to make deciscions and not all are going to pass through the higher-ups and thats how we get an arm rest and not a lumbar support! hehe

What can I tell you, not everything us .netters want will get to production, but in time if we hope and keep mentioning these things here, maybe one day they'll grant our wish with a limited run of a monster IS. You never know.

poor targis will probably never post here again. lol.

IBTL anyway.

I wonder if they will wait a year to release the manual transmission like they did with the current generation IS300.

That is my single biggest fear with the 2nd-generation IS, since it also happened when Infiniti first released the G35 sedan. The lease on my current IS is up right about the time when the 2nd-gen IS becomes available. If Lexus pulls this crap again, sorry, but I'll be driving something else. I refuse to own an automatic car!

That being the case, of course he knows more about the next IS than any of us. And I would love for him to share his knowledge with us. Please have him join our site. He's also free to PM me with any new additional information he can provide. I'm even willing to keep it off the record if he so desires.

The Best Car, a Japanese car magazine, says that there will be only a 6AT with 3.5 V6. Hopefully this is just incorrect info.

I wouldn't put it past Lexus to do such a thing. Meaning, I think they would even if we wouldn't
