i had the same issue
i took it 2 the shop n we found the CAT was dirty and the O2 system was fucked
so i dropd the racing down pipe n a new O2 n it cleared up

 

That all depends on what codes you are getting. Just getting the lights is telling you to read the codes.

guys, so the check engine code is p0440

it used to be p0441 p0446 p0451 and p0440, but after changing the parts that i listed above

p0441, p0446, and p0451 dissapeared, however, p0440 still remained.

auto mechanic said this might be either charcoal canister or fuel tank problem

but he said charcoal canister rarely causes the problem so it might be the fuel tank or something is wrong with the censor or might be the program itself got an error...

ugh... i hate this :[

 

I think canister replacement is big $$

what should i do if the problem is one of those 2... should i just turn off the engine check light and drive? cuz that engine check light can be very disturbing :[

 

I don't know if the canister can be removed and opened. If so, I think you might could just refill it with activated charcoal. At least that's what I'd try. First though maybe try to make sure all the lines and pipes are clear and that the system is breathing like it's supposed to. Sometimes they get clogged near the gas filler pipe or near the air cleaner.

I'm no expert on this, but just going on the manual and what I've read. If you just reset the CEL it's going to keep coming back on.

Wow, I cant believe the nerve of some ppl, you took pictures of it (you should be ok) I doubt she can get away with it, regardless she fled from the scene so you should win automatically should this make it to court. Best of luck, i feel your pain.
