Hey guys - after 16 years with my IS300 and a ton of miles (it has 237k), it’s time to replace it with something a bit more family friendly for tooling around town. We already picked up late model Q5 and are loving it. Now it’s just time to sell the IS. I’m really struggling with pricing. I have no idea what it’s worth and was hoping you guys could maybe give me some idea. One of my neighbors is Considering buying it as a first car for his daughter.

The Good:

1) I’m the 2nd owner and I’ve had it since 73k miles. This car doesn’t break and has never once left me walking.

2) It has an LSD

3) It’s been maintained well.

4) The interior is in well above average condition, black with zero cuts or tears. Even the dash only has a couple minor scratches.

5) Everything works. Windows, door locks, sunrof, radio, 6 disk changer, you name it… it works. Even the seat heaters are weAI but still work.

6) It’s aurburn sky Pearl - really rare color.

7) Couple minor bumper cover accidents, but nothing significant ever.

8) It’s a southern car that has spent it’s entire life in Georgia.

9) Engine burns minimal oil - about 1qt every 3k miles just like it always has. I always used synthetic or semi-synthetic in it and the valve train looked spotless clean and virtually no wear a few years ago when I replaced valve cover gaskets.

10) Timing belt kit with water pump done 4/2020 with only abt 1500 miles on them. vvti has been resealed and it has no leaks inside the timing belt cover.

11) Bone stock. Never modified at all.

The bad:

1) The paint is shot. It absolutely needs a paint job and the front bumper should be replaced due to a broken clip.

2) Minor leaks. It leaves spots on the ground occasionally but never puddles… but engine has a few minor leaks. I think one maybe from either the rear main or upper oil pan… again not enough to warrant fixing, but it’s there.

3) The suspension is original with 237k miles. It’s not Cadillac floaty by any stretch, but it isn’t what it once was.

Sooo… that’s it. I’ve got no idea what it’s worth. Any ideas? eBay and find out? :-D

You can see where the bumper cover gap isn't quite right on the passenger side front. I broke one of the retaining clips molded into bumper cover trying to retrieve a lost Easter Egg

Paint / clear is destroyed on the top surfaces.

Minor scratches above the glove box on the silverish trim, otherwise I pretty solid shape.

No tears in the seats front or back with factory mats front, back, and in the trunk.

Below has been the car's parking spot for the past 7 years. Should give you an accurate idea of what I mean by "minor leaks".

Thank you both. IS300s seem to be hard to find posted and it’s tough to get a good apples to apples comparison. I do know mine interior wise looks way better than most of what I see which are generally gross and falling apart.

I live in the Bay Area CA. These things are getting rare everywhere. For background information, I run a used car dealership with a buddy of mine. I bought my wife’s “Tezzy” a little over a year ago now. I paid $3000 for this car. It was listed for $4200. However i talked them down to 3k for various leaks (rear main was the big one) timing belt and water pump wasn’t done either. Also you can’t tell in the pic but the roof has some hail damage.

I think (at least for me) posting @ $5k obo would work. But Tobias has SOLID information up there about looking for cars in your area.

People on facebook will make fun of you if you list the car at a reasonable price, but there's definitely no way I would sell that for less than $5k anywhere. Kelly Blue Book, Carfax, and Edmunds can be helpful for finding what your car is worth, or similar places for trade in value. You could even get an offer from Carvana or the like.

Because you think it’s worth more? Or it’s not worth it? I definitely air on the optimistic side of car sales lol.
