I jsut got a 1st gen IS, I am looking a set of tire that perfectly fit for our car and not too wide, I have 17x8 on front and 17x9.0 for rear? what tire i should put them on..what brand do u guys use, by the way,everything is stock for now. i was thinking 225 or 235 / 45 front and 245 or 275 for the rear.

17x8? i think umm 245/45/17

17x9? i think 265/275 rear

If everything is stock as you say, then the wheels are 17x7 all round (assuming you have the sedan and not the Sport-X).

Your tire choices are therefore:-

215/45/17
225/45/17

235/40/17 or 235/45/17 can also just about be used but not really recommended. Your speedo will be off too.

if you are going to use those wheels you need to know the offsets to determine what tire will fit on stock fenders..

sorry for the confusion, yeah I got some Masitaly President 17x9.5 all around, I am not sure the offset, but what tire do u guys recommand for daily driving..I want something quiet and stable

Stock Wheels - 205/215 45R17

17x8 225/45R17
17x9 255/40R17

When you tire is too fat for your wheels you get unwanted sidewall flex when cornering. People who think they are doing themselves a favor by putting 225/235 width tires on stock wheels are just fooling themselves. Contact Patch increases, YES, but so does instability.

I have 245 on stock rims and the traction as awesome. Better than 235. I know its pushing it, but this is just for the info.

did you buy 17x9.5 all around and there on the way or you have them?
