I for one don't miss the shouting matches
or BMW/Lexus bashing...
Webmaster was the first to suggest a
registered user only board, and "way back when",
I said it would discourage "off the cuff"
posting from anonmymous people.
But there were too many people suggesting
that the forum was getting to be a mess,
and they had been making requests to
remove "garbage" posts...
With all that said, there really isn't
anything stopping people from making
inflamatory statements on the new board.
They just have to be willing to spend
the extra minute it takes to
put together a profile. Not that I suggest
it, but people who need to keep their
identity secret could register without
putting down any personal information.
I have not deleted any posts on the new
forum and I hope I never have to.
It would only consider it if the post
seemed to have no value to the forum
whatsoever. I promise I won't remove
any posts just because I disagree with
what the poster said.
As far as I know the webmaster has no inclination
to pracice censorship either.
He weighed the issues before decided
to go this route...
The old bboard had some problems anyways-
there were a few occasions where the site
was unusable due to some database issues.
This new commercial system is well tested
and in use on alot of other popular sites.
