Mostly for the registration and profile capabilities. I like the old forum though because it uses a database rather than this flat file business. And the old one was free... Time will tell.

can we go back to the old one webmaster?
Look at the posts, It really decreased. the new registration killed alot of users. I was really fun reading all the topics. It'salways good to have variety no matter how out of place they may be. I for one really enjoyed the old forum.

Give it a couple days... We'll be back up to speed shortly. And anyone who doesn't want to register probably shouldn't of been here anyway.

Webmaster,

It's a nice interface. I am quite surprised that you have brought this new forum in such a short time !

ya, it's weird to see such a decrease in posts, but I guess that in a few days it should be pretty similar to the old forum (without some of the bimmer agitators posts
)

ps: btw, Tony, maybe it should be a good idea to point most of your links to target="_new", it always makes navigation easier... just my 2¢ tho....

Well, if this weeds out some of the people who won't really purchase this car from the people who will then I'm for it.

Good grief, has this website been emasculated in the wake of politcal correctness? Geez, I know there were some knuckleheads in the old forum and thought a screening process might rid some of the jokers but there's nothing going on in here and it's boring. Sorry, webmaster and TEG, JIMHO. I retract my previous post.

I for one don't miss the shouting matches
or BMW/Lexus bashing...

Webmaster was the first to suggest a
registered user only board, and "way back when",
I said it would discourage "off the cuff"
posting from anonmymous people.

But there were too many people suggesting
that the forum was getting to be a mess,
and they had been making requests to
remove "garbage" posts...

With all that said, there really isn't
anything stopping people from making
inflamatory statements on the new board.
They just have to be willing to spend
the extra minute it takes to
put together a profile. Not that I suggest
it, but people who need to keep their
identity secret could register without
putting down any personal information.

I have not deleted any posts on the new
forum and I hope I never have to.
It would only consider it if the post
seemed to have no value to the forum
whatsoever. I promise I won't remove
any posts just because I disagree with
what the poster said.

As far as I know the webmaster has no inclination
to pracice censorship either.
He weighed the issues before decided
to go this route...

The old bboard had some problems anyways-
there were a few occasions where the site
was unusable due to some database issues.
This new commercial system is well tested
and in use on alot of other popular sites.

I don't like it. It's good for keeping some people out, becuase it is real hard to make a post here. I miss the lively posts from strangers coming in from god knows where. Also, I have a real ****ty 28.8k connection, and this new page takes longer to load.
