Hello all! Had a quick question/opinion. Which do you think would be stronger and more reliable. Aftermarket forged internals or TT internals? I've heard good things about the TT internals, but I've also heard they're not as strong now as they used to be. What do you think? Thanks!

i think u should do a search.. :)

from what i found.... TT internals are good for a certain amount of power... if you go above that amount, you are better off with aftermarket ones

I always search, I couldn't find a really "definitive" answer. I found one post from Dan that helped a little, but I can't find the cost of TT internals. If I knew the cost of TT internals(just the pistons, rods, and extras), then I could make a decision.

Plus, I have heard bad things about the new TT shortblocks not being strong. Anyone have experience with that? I'm not planning on ever running more than 450-550 rwhp. That's my goal. I know aftermarket internals cost around $1300 on the cheap side, and on up from there.

Well, u answered those two questions. For the amount of money u are willing to spend and the horsepower levels you indicated TT internals should cover that. Aldo is running 660rwhp on the TT internals. They should be good up to 700rwhp. Any one of you mad scientist out there can step in anytime.

If you do a search at Supra Forums, they have a thread about the TT short block from Toyota. Several Supra Tuners and members from the forum had block failure and is seeking monetary compensation from Toyota (good luck on that). There is also a statement about that not all TT short blocks are from Japan and that some are made in Mexico (not that it's a bad thing but they are questioning the quality control set up at a different mfg. plant)....

Oh btw, regarless as someone prev. mentioned, if you're seeking 450-500whp reliability then it should be fine. All of the Supra Forum guys who's TT block failed where pushing above 700whp. Guess it's a hit or miss cause as you know PP's SRT Stage 4 is using stock TT short block and just dynoed 760whp at only 30.5psi, and there are numerous cases where Supra guys have pushed their stock TT short block to 900whp with proper tunning. So I guess I'm back to square one on answering the question  . Sorry

Then there's that guy with the N/A-T supra with the STOCK GE BLOCK that just hit 10.2 @ 134 I believe just a few weeks back.... pushing over 700rwhp on a GE BLOCK. He got one of those freak of the litter blocks.

Very nice, but it still doesn't state my original question...if it has orginal stock internals. I highly doubt it but nontheless very impressive.

I looking into these upgrades right now also. Hmm...GTE block or upgraded internals... :-?

What would you do if you were going to be pushing 400rwhp daily?

Yea, I think I'm heading that route, too. I know the TT internals will hold it, but for how long? I'm looking to only do this once if possible, so if forged internals will be more reliable, I'm all for it. That's the same power level I'm looking for 400-450 everyday on 93 octane :D

And then a 'lil higher on race gas
