My salesman that sold me the car said it's very important that they get an "excellent" or a "very satisfied" on the survey that they send you.

My situation is this:

When I went to purchase my car I had asked for a fully loaded graphite grey one. So they had one left I was told in their warehouse..So I made the deal. Didnt see the car till I picked it up. At first glance it looked like it had everything in it so I took it home being a happy new Lexus owner.

Since then I've learned that the car did not come with LSD and now I just noticed that I have the standard 17" alloy wheels rather than the graphite polished ones. I had always thought that you either get the standard 16" wheels or you get the 17" ones..

So I call the dealer to express my displeasure and was told nothing could be done about it...Basically they won't retrofit the car with LSD and I was told they don't order any of their cars with that option and they won't spend 1500 -> 1600 for me to get the wheels i wanted.

I know it was pure ignorance on my part not to investigate the options more prior to buying the car but what other options do I have but to voice my displeasure on this survey they seem to hold so dear?

Will I ruin my relationship with the dealer if I do so? Should I just suck it up and forget about it. I guess I'm wondering what the reprecussions are for giving them a negative comment on it.

Thanks,

Pogie.

If the dealer does not get a perfect rating, they make no commission whatsoever. My dealer kept saying how important it was, so my dad asked him and he said they don't get paid unless they get the highest possible remarks. I had some problems when I got mine, since I didn't want to ruin the relationship with him, I just gave him good marks. It kina sucks that it works that way.

In a way, it was both Pogie and the dealerships fault. But the dealership is ultimately in control of the deal, and sometimes we as the consumer put too much trust in the fact that our interests are always going to be served.

I completely understand if you didn't want any bad blood with the dealership, but at the same time, how else do you expect them to improve that trust between the customer and the salesperson if you don't fill these out according to how you actually feel. There's probably a lot we don't know about your dealings Pogie, so it's hard to say who's at fault.

I agree with Silverlex. If you don't ding them, they don't have any disincentive from repeating this in the future, not only with you, but with other customers.

The same happened to me with a 99 GS 300. The Prick Dealer told me that this model had High Intensity headlights, Nakamichi Stereo(spelling) and we agreed upon a monthly payment. So when I went to ge the car, the monthly price was up, & Idiotic me signed. Grrrr, I got rid of the thing that same year. Next time I'll bring a baseball bat on my shoulder to the dealership, PriCks

Thanks for the feedback guys.

That is pretty much all the facts as far as the story goes. I asked for a "fully loaded" car...he said it was..I took his word for it and made the deal. I didnt even see the window sticker till I picked up the car..and even then i just casually glanced over it making little checkmarks in my head making sure for leather, 17" wheels, heated seats, sunroof...mats, wheel locks..etc.

Even the brochure is misleading where as the only place they mention the standard 17" alloys vs the graphite polished ones is in the specs list.

I dunno what I'm gonna do about the survey, I'm supposed to pick up my plates Saturday and hand in the survey. Would it be worth it to email Lexus Corp?

I'll probably just end up giving them a good rating because it wasn't entirely their fault..Like I said before, I should have been more aware of what I was getting before I signed the papers.

Even if I do "ding" them, what are they gonna do.snob me when I go in for maintenance?

Thanks again,

Pogie.

I would be honest in what you write on the survey. If you felt u were mislead, tell them so. No need to sugarcoat anything.

By the way, when did u guys get the Lexus survey? It's been over two weeks since my purchase and delivery, and I haven't gotten anything yet (except for some postcard from the dealer).

Maybe you'll get a nice prickly cactus for dinging them

But honestly, you should be open about your experience on the survey. After all, you can always take your car to be serviced at another Lexus dealership (if that's an option). If you felt mislead by the dealer, that is not a relationship that should be pursued. Just ask yourself how much was your error and how much was theirs?

Same thing happend to me, The sales guy said the car was loaded, I asked him several times if it had LSD, he re-assured me, again and again...so in my mind I thought the car had everything. So I went ahead and haggled price with him for 3 hours! After signing the paperwork, he then pulled the car around...sure enough, NO LSD!!

So i asked him whats up with the LSD and he turned around and said, "We don't get them with LSD anymore" Thats BS, considering the car is still in its first year! So i was like, phuk it, I just agreed to buy the car anyways.

So when the survey came in, I gave him average to poor marks. Sure enough, He called me on the phone and expressed his displeasure of my bad ratings to him...basically, i told him the story of how he screwed me on the LSD and told him to phuk off...I wouldn't have been so rude to him of he wasn't so rude to me first...I guess i won't be going to that dealer anymore! LOL!!

I would tend to be honest on the survey. A member of my family works at a lex dealership and i asked him the same question. as i recall, the sales and service divisions of the dealerships each receive their own marks. so i wouldn't worry too much about making the salesman angry, you will probably not bother the service manager.

FYI The survey comes in the mail 2-3 weeks later and you're supposed to mail it back, not give it to the dealership. They could just throw it away. Your marks directly affect the salesperson and do affect his/her pay. (they still get paid, there's just a deduction and they get points knocked off their bonus at the end of the year) Also, make sure it's the salesperson who screwed you and not the manager. I would recommend writing a letter to the GM and GSM -- maybe you'll get satisfaction that way. Also, why would anyone sign for a car they've never seen/driven?

BTW if you don't take delivery---no sale.

I agree with most of you about being honest on the survey. They need the feed back so that we can be treated better. They can't ask for respect, they have to earn it! I said some negative things about my sale experience for good reasons and they gave me a free full detail to make it up. Don't worry, you're the one that is going to spend the money.....

When I got mine, I stated I wanted Fully Loaded GGP IS300 WITH LSD. I specifically said LSD. The dealer had no allocation for GGP IS300 w/LSD, so they had to trade w/ another dealer, which made me wait over a month to get my baby. I'm happy I waited. LSD is so sweet!!!

I posted about this a while ago, but I asked for a GGP with LSD and a sunroof. I was told that was what the car had, but was never given the window sticker and found out later it doesn't have LSD.

I made a huge issue out of it and the dealership said they would retro-fit the LSD but that it would cost $3000 to do it and they were only willing to pay half. I told tham that was unacceptable and that I was only willing to pay $400 - the cost of the option from the factory. They said no.

So, I just sent my survey back and ripped them a new one. I said that I felt like they did this to me because I was a woman and that I would never refer anyone to that dealership and that I would never buy another Lexus either. I really hope they call me.

For those of you saying this is my falut, I already took partial responsibility in a previous thread.
