The efficiency of a turbocharger or supercharger is how well it can compress the air that the device is ingesting. The more efficient it is, the less the air will be heated when compressing it. A compressor wheel has efficiency islands, in which based on a given rpm, volume of air required, and pressure rate that it is pushing against. In the compressor map, you can plot those 3 variables and come up with a value.
