from speaking with them, i found out that the traction unit replacement will not be available for probably another 60days. the 2002 navigation's housing is seperate and not made by lexus, but rather Denso. therefore you can probably order it for your 2001 is300 and put an alpine screen on it and have it work like a charm.
also, the VRM (voice recognition module) im planning to install in my IS300 this summer will not void warranty. what it does is, you can program it to have set commands and macros for anything in your car that can electronically be turned on or off. say, "cruise mode"...you can set that to wear when you say cruise mode, your car will roll down the window, sunroof slide back and radio on. the vrm module is basically limitless, im am currently talking to the guy who is building this and writing the software. it has been installed in a car and tested, worked like a charm. there is still more testing to be done and bugs to fix, but once its done, i assure u ill have one also.
ill keep you guys updated. hope some of what you read have been informative.

Can he program it so that the car talks back to you? Maybe having it confirm what you commanded it to do. For instance I say, "Open Sunroof". Then the car says, "Sunroof Opening". =D

price will be around 700-800 probably, but dont quote me on it. currently, it uses a 16bit chip, but there are probably 32bit options. i also have to fly the guy down here first, he lives in the northeastern region of US.

Great info...
How about Next traffic light, make a left. LOL.

I wonder how that unitl will interact /w the car. Making driver's window open will be one hell of a job since it's controlled by "power window master switch" located inside driver door. Sunroof? Once again, inside sunroof switch. I can see lotsa wiring done to get all those things working.

Just went today for my 1,000 mile service, I asked aboyt the ECU fix they told me they will have it at the end of April and it will be covered fully under warranty. They had no idea of a Trac control problem.

wires will need to be soldered to each of the unit's control switch wires.
