What does IS stand for?

Hey people

This is my first post and I am excited to be here. I don't have my own IS300 yet though... hopefully soon I just have to get out of this lease I am stuck in right now (I'm trying to have someone take it over).

Anyhow, what does the IS stand for in IS300? The other day a friends said to me - "Why IS did they just make up two letters?" I want to give him a real answer, thanks

If you'd followed the link given by cardinal_creek you could have found the answer. A dealer with the name of "I_SELL_LEXUS" or something said he knows it stands for "international sedan". What do you think about that?

or wait.... maybeee cuz a car that cost 5 thousand less then your riced up corolla gets better miles to the gallon and will outporm your ricer in every catogory... hmm

Yep, IS means International Sedan. Here's the Lexus breakdown.

LS- Luxury Sedan
GS- Grand Sport
SC- Sport Coupe
ES- Executive Sedan
IS- International Sedan
LX- Luxury 4x4
RX- Recreational 4x4

Stoner, and youa ct like you're 12. This is a Lexus forum and you have to expect pot shots at other makes. If you dont like the IS300, perhaps your time would be better spent at vtec.net. Also, the IS300 is as much a riced up Corolla as the Acura CL is a riced up Accord coupe. The IS shares nothing with the Corolla.

Uh 5k less, don't think so. Try I paid 32k for my IS,and like I posted to you in your other thread. Do the research prick before you start shouting off insults that are not needed in this forum. Search the history of all the threads started by Geoff and then and only then you will get the insite to come in here and shout off. NEWBIE!
