5.7 w/ filter change
5.4 w/o filter change

do not fill with all 6 quarts!
Buy one 5 quart container and a 1 quart container, but just use .7 of the quart after you put in the 5.

RTFM before giving out advice like that! if you don't know shit about the quantity of oil to pour in, don't just give a round-about number...

If you pull the oil filter you will need all 6quarts. I use a full 6qts when changing my oil and it lines up after getting warm right up to the line, never exceeds the line. I guess some people just keep the same filter for the life of the car and use only 5.7qts. And if you don't change your own oil you should not being saying anything yourself.

Yep. The engine will just throw out the excess and it will end up at the full line. That's waste, and not environmentally sound.
Use the V8 Toyota Filter and you can use the full 6 quarts.

incorrect; manual states 5.7 WITH filter change; 5.4 w/o filter change.

change the oil yourself and see, I do my own oil change so maybe my car has some gremlin. Most shops will use all the 6qts also after chaning the oil and it lines up right up to the max line and does not go over.

how do you know I don't change my own oil?? don't assume when you don't know :shame:

if you had read the manual... it says to fill with 5.7 WITH a new oil filter change and 5.4 WITHOUT. if you pour all 6 qts in there, and wait until it all drips down into the oil pan before you pull the dipstick out, you will see that it will exceed the max line. you shouldn't check the dipstick right after the last bottle empties into the engine.

HoustonLex: you're right, you can't buy 5.7 qts of oil. But you're not suppose to pour it all in either.
If you have a turbo charged IS300 which DL has then I think 6 quarts is right, since the car use's more oil from turbo and return line and burns a little bit faster, someone with knowledge pleez chime in.

I did put all 6 quarts in and it was fine.
