Hey, I'm starting to wonder if the insurance rate I'm getting is the best out there, so I'm curious to know what everyone in VA pays for insurance on their IS. An age would also be helpful.

Right now at age 24, I'm paying about $850/6 months.

WHAAAAT!!! I have USAA, am 24 yrs old and pay $1700/yr. Plus, I only have 1 speeding ticket from 2 years ago, and no accidents or claims, and only 8000 miles/yr.

To make matters worse, I commute to work via Metro, so I have my insurance set as a "Pleasure" vehicle, not a work/school commuting vehicle, so my insurance is as low as it will go.

Something just isn't right. :pissed: :bitching:

Wino, what makes you feel that USAA is the best out there, out of curiosity. I mean, my parents tell me the same thing, but having never tried another insurance company I can't compare.

USAA the best?

USAA is the best insurance company as long as you're a good boy and just send them money and never expect service in return. My story: At the end of 1999 I was happy because I had just bought a brand new 2000 Mits Eclipse. About two weeks after I purchased it some old lady rear-ended me in traffic. She readily admitted guilt and USAA told me to file the claim through my insurance and they would just bill the lady's insurance. Here's where it got interesting. I graduated from the Air Force Academy in Colorado and there's a huge USAA building right off campus. Instead of them sending me there, though, USAA sent me to some other company's claim adjusters in Denver (about an hour away from campus and the academy is not the easiest place to get away from for errands). About 1 week later I received a list of authorized body shops I could take my car to for the repairs. When I called one to make an appointment, I was asked for an authorization number or something. Well, I called USAA to get this number and the person assigned to my claim was on vacation for a couple of days and noone could authorize a new number because I was already supposed to have received the number. In the end, it took me almost a month and a half to have a rear bumper replaced and repainted and WAAAAYYYYY too much stress to get it done. When I shopped around, another company gave me the same coverage for about $14 more a month but I have an actual agent rather then whoever answers the phone. My parents have stayed with USAA and they too had a problem recently when they wanted to rent a truck at Lowe's. Lowe's needed to verify their policy and it was a Saturday and noone was at the USAA office to send a fax to verify the policy. My insurance company was there and we got the fax from them. In the end, USAA is great if you never have to file a claim or speak to anyone in the evenings or the weekend about your policy. Sorry to ramble but I am still bitter about the whole experience.

Statefarm is awesome... I love em!

I dunno bout you guys but whenever you get into an accident that isn't your fault, never get your insurance company involve. No need to unless you're claiming PIP (personal injury protection).

I'm glad to see that my rates are relatively in line with the rest of you.

I don't know if you saw my post in the GD, but I priced the insurance on a Civic because I'm thinking of getting rid of the IS (I only drive it about once a week, so it's just sitting in my garage costing me money) and the Civic rates were higher... about $1000/6 mo. Crazy.
