I don't know Geoff... That's why I asked. I heard that it's better to stick to one brand of gas, just like sticking to one brand of oil. Castrol Syntec (which I use) is actually quite different from Mobil 1 (which has problems with bubble formation).

I had a friend who told me that it's better to stick with one brand of gas. He didn't really back it up, but I usually just fill up at Exxon Stations.

Yeah I heard the same as well, so maybe I should stick with one brand. It's interesting that my car actually felt slower with 94 octane Sunoco than it did with Exxon's 93 octane fuel. I heard that it's because Sunoco adds too many unnecessary additives....

it doesn't matter so long as it's a high-quality premium. most detergents are the same these days, just like most cleansers, regardless of brand, use the same detergents and surfectants. everything else is hype and marketing.

There are published studies that show just how close Mobil, Exxon, Shell, and Texaco are from one another. While I can't remember who won last year's test I was told by an industry expert that the difference is negligible.
However, I have also been told that once you move away from the bigger guys and go to 7-11 and some smaller players that there can be a noticeable difference. This info is coming from a very high level Shell Oil employee.

brad is right. most major names are the same at the premium level. start going to costco or big earl's gas hut and laundry emporium, then caveat emptor.

Are their some states that require that ethanol based fuel, and aren't there some engines that have had problems with that type of fuel like BMW's 4.0 liter V8 (until they made changes in their 4.4 liter V8). I think Audi's V8 has had similar problems as well...

You're right Brad and Geoff... different brand premiums probably don't make a difference...
