Would somebody who has lost the undercarriage
"thing" please post the part number. I have
a shop manual with an IPB (Illustrated Parts
Breakdown), and I'll take a look and try to
see where this "thing" is located, how many
fasteners, etc., and maybe shed some light
for those of us who still have their things.

Silver IS, black suede, 5Ziggen muffler.

I've had my car about a month, but I haven't
had a chance to look at the undercarriage of
mine or anybody else's, so I'm not sure which
part is falling off.

I've only had a brief look at the left rear
corner when the car was jacked up Saturday
for the installation of the new muffler,
and I couldn't get a good look at all the
plastic, but it's obviously there to cut down
on turbulence and aero drag on the underside
of the vehicle.

The manual shows two engine covers, both of
which are fairly large, and attached by a
number of fasteners (the page I'm looking at
doesn't quote the number of fasteners, but
they're shown somewhere in the manual: The
"No.1 Engine Under Cover" has, I believe,
16 or 18 threaded fasteners. On the aft
end of the engine there is a "No. 2 Engine
Under Cover," also with a large number of
fasteners. I don't think this is the "thing"
that's coming detached during driving.

There are two other items shown, which I believe are also plastic: One of these is
denominated "LH Front Floor Center Cover," and is approximately retangular with an
aspect ratio of about 3 or 4. I think I
saw this piece in the vicinity of an o2
sensor screwed into the exhaust pipe approximately mid-way the length of the car.

The last piece shown is called the "No.1
Rear Floor Board," and although the name
would lead one to think it might be metal,
it is attached with four (?) fasteners, and
appears to be plastic. This item looks to
be either "L" shaped, or "C" shaped. The
manual does not show a "No. 2 Rear Floor Board," as near as I can find, but there
may be another one, and it might be the
same approximate shape.

Does any of this make sense, and does any
of it sound familiar to whoever has lost
part of the undercarriage????

Had a car roll into the dealership that had lost the "Rear Oxygen Sensor Wiring Harness Cover" today... Don't remember the part number, but didn't have it in stock... Used the existing bolt, plus an oversized washer to re-affix the plastic shield until the new part arrived... Might this be the infamous "undercarriage" cover? :)
