Is there anyway to turn the car off without turning the radio off? Similar to starting the car without pressing the brake. I just turn the whole car off, then press the button again to turn it back on.
That's what I do. Pushing start with no foot on brake will put it in the "acc" postion and radio will play. Push it again and everything but the motor comes on.

It's funny you bring this up because today when I got back to the office today from lunch I was in a hurry to get out of the car and forgot to put it in park when I pushed the start/stop button. The car and A/C turned off because I was stopped but the radio stayed on. I thought that was strange but relized right away I still had the car in drive. I put the car in park took my foot off the brake and had to push the start/stop button two more times to turn the car completely off. So I guess you can turn the car off and leave the radio on, but I don't think this method is good for the car.

Oh and the reason I was in a hurry is because a cute girl from the office was walking out to her car and I wanted to talk to her :p .

The owners manual explains all this. Push the button once is the same as turning a key to the first notch. Push the button twice is the same as turning a key to the second notch. Leaving the foot off the brake and continuing to push the button toggles from acc, to on, to off.

No, the reason you were in a hurry is cause you wanted her to see your new Toy and go daaayuummm!! Only problem was, she must have been really hot to make a fella forget to put the car in park and proper shutdown!! Those are photos one should post!!

Seriously, I don't think there is a way around the single punch-no brake method, bro. I too have been experimenting with my car.

Dropping phone calls...

Along this same line of questioning. What do you do when you're on the phone, just arrived at home but want to continue the conversation. I turn off the car, but there's a 10 second lag before I can disconnect my bluetooth... so the person on the other line can't here me for a while?? Is there an easier way to segway out of the car and keep the conversation going? Maybe it's just my phone?

Michael,

Before you turn your car off, hit the "transfer" button on the NV screen and that should work. I've tried it a couple times.

Or, if you want to stay in the car and continue handsfree, put the gear selector in neutral and press that start button to only turn the engine off but keep everything else powered up.

Thanks, is the "transfer" button located within the phone menu or navigation?

Thanks clubfoot, about neutral as a fall-back if the "transfer" doesn't work.

Thanks also to you Kenny, it was late, but still, how do you know I wasn't talking about one of these?

It's on the phone menu. There should be a red icon in the shape of a phone that will say transfer.

LMAO...I don't think there is room for one of those in the IS...and you'd look silly trying to get out of the car on one. :) I'd have spelled it the same way...it just looked odd so I thought I'd have a little fun at your expense.
