1. Do you use a turbo timer?
a. if yes, then which brand/unit and why
b. if no, then why not

2. How long sec/min do you let you car run?

3. Do bigger turbos really need a longer cool down?

4. If you have a M/T does the car need to be parked in nuetral? (I figure it does, but I don't know).

5. The coking? that builds on a turbo, what has to be done to clean the turbo of it?

6. Can the timer be turned on and off?

7. Any other info you can add would be appreciated.

1.
A. Yes, I "will" be using a turbo timer  I have the HKS Type 1 USA Spec Turbo Timer. I like it because of its style and its a HKS product. It also, has auto feature where it detects your driving habits and shuts down accordingly.

2. Auto, check back at number 1
3. Not always, but I am sure it could be helpful.
4. Manual tranny cars have to be in nuetral and have the parking brake up.
5. Its not a choking, its a building up of oil in the turbo. Thats why when you let it run it cools down and prevents this from happening.
6. Yes, you can turn any turbo timer on and off.
7. Most timers do the same thing now a days. Just look for the best one for your needs and where you want to mount it. :D

If you cant sit in your car for a few minutes and let the turbo cool down then you need Prozac. If you have nothing better to spend the money on, send it to me. :D

any of the big name brand guys have good turbo timers...they all basically work the same...just that some have some extra bells and whistles...

as for it working with the stock alarm, you can make it work...you just need to find someone who's good with relays and circuits...my supra's alarm still works and i also did a few other cars the same way too...

Or...

you can just not boost when youre like 5 minutes away from your home. Keep the rpms low and just cruise on in and you'll be fine.

Nope. I don't right now because I don't like the idea of leaving my car running without me in it. Plus, you still have to be near the car to set the alarm once it shuts off. I am not sure whether or not it is worth.

I dont use one at all....I jus let it run and walk around and admire what i fine car i built  .....And usually I get couple people always asking me questions when i go places....So it waists enough time to let it coool a bit...

I know of a guy on this board that uses an apexi and his friend was able to wire it so the alarm still arms etc with the turbo timer running.

I understand that you wouldn't want to walk away from your idling car, but I don't know if I would ALWAYS have the patience to sit in my car until it cools.

How long do you guys let your car idle so it cools down?
