TRAC/ECU UPDATE IN SAN DIEGO

Alright, I'm starting to get the "Trac/ECU" runaround. The culprit, Kearny Mesa. First off, I didn't call the 800 number that BLACK called (but I'm doing it tomorrow for sure!!). A month ago I put in the order and was told that it would take about a month to get in as it is back ordered. No response in the one month span so when I called KM, they said that it will probably take another month if not longer. Something about a pending EPA approval for the ECU update. Also said that "if you would have had the update earlier, you only got the first part of the update (TRAC) and you would've had to come back to the the ECU burn". Did anyone hear this one yet?!?! Oh yeah, the guy (forgot his name) also said that right now they're giving priority to IS's that have actually stalled! Is the problem potentially that bad! I recall one guy who said that his IS stalled at a stoplight or something. I'm definitely calling the 800 number and Lexus of Carlsbad to see if I can get this shiit done cause the hesitation is becoming more and more prominent and the last thing I need is a one year old, 35+ thousand car stalling out on me!

Had my SBM in to Carlsbad this past Saturday for its 15,000 mile service. $230. Ouch. Those 15,000 mile intervals are big. My wife's RX300 was in at the same time for its 20,000 mile service and that was only $160. So $400 at Lexus Carlsbad in one afternoon. Ouch again.

gmej, ask for Jeanette Karver at Lexus Carlsbad. Mention that you are getting the runaround at Kearny Mesa, and are about to call the 800 number. Maybe she'll see the light and get you taken care of ahead of those KM folks. It's funny, I was down on Carlsbad when it looked like they were gonna take forever, but now that I actually got the upgrade through them I'm down on Kearny Mesa and cool with Carlsbad!

Also, when I was there I mentioned the undercarriage splash guard coming loose thing. The service writer knew exactly what I was talking about and said my file was flagged as needing that part already, but that it was on backorder. So when it comes in I'll get the fix at my next visit. He also said to bring the car in empty, as they will fill up the gas tank before returning it (as reported by another board member here). He said that's standard practice for "SSCs" - Special Service Campaigns. How cool is that? With San Diego gas prices, a full tank is $30-35 worth of gas! Thank you very much!
