mine has always been off. I just don't like seeing the TRAC OFF light on the panel...

is this bad. If it's always nice and sunny out, do I need TRAC always on? does it affect mileage?

it's a full time TRAC Control, u can disable it by push the Trac off buttom by the heated seat.

He said he keeps it off and wants to know if that affects anything - not HOW to turn it off.

I turn it off periodically, when I know I'm going to do something that TRAC will try and prevent. The other day after some hard rain, I did some 360's in the parking lot at the mall - need to turn it off to do that.

Are you saying that trac-off is always showing even when you first start the car?

By "default" is supposed to be on (no light on dash) everytime you restart the car.

Some of us would like to learn how to make it "default" to being off all the time...

(On the old Supras you could pull a fuse to make it stay off).

The traction control is most beneficial in rain and snow, but it could help if you were accelerating around a corner, and you ran into a patch of oil or loose gravel.

I always keep mine off. I like to drive aggresively and it gets in the way. Its frustrating when you getting ready to take a corner fast, and right when you coming out of it the traction control kicks in and it lets off on my engine. However, when it rains I do turn it on and its a good thing then. =]
