Please stop fighting.

I'm not here to call anyone out, I'm simply making a statement based off of MULTIPLE observations that I made today while looking in the posted topics throughout this forum.

Nobody gives two sh*ts if you "f***ing hate aggressive wheel setups" or if you can't stand the look of a "sunken battleship."

NOBODY CARES.

A. It is not helpful to the original poster and their questions
B. It simply stirs arguments and heated discussions
C. It often times creates misinformation because people want to post and think they really know what they're talking about
D. It annoys other members who try to remain neutral amongst the banter
E. It annoys the hell out of the moderators who have to hear about it 24/7!

I can honestly say that I and a few other members receive a VERY LARGE majority of any and all wheel fitment questions on the site. On average, I receive 1-2 messages a DAY. A DAY! Yeah, it's tiring and is sometimes extremely mundane and repetitive. (I'm sure the other couple members also grow weary of it at times).

But do I go around hacking down other members because they hate/like a certain aspect of wheel fitment that I don't? No! There is absolutely NO NEED to bash on other members simply because they like stretching tires on wide wheels, or putting fatty tires on skinny wheels.

If you like Hellaflush and know what all needs to be done to fit low offset wheels, SWEET! If you like meaty tires for traction and a conservative setup and know what all needs to be done to fit it, AWESOME!

If you haven't experienced one or the other FIRST HAND, please, don't give advice about it. IE driving on stretched tires isn't safe. Or, driving with a 245/45/17 on a 17x7.5" wheel will not affect performance in any way. Etcetera.

Everyone has their own tastes! So give your recommendation or don't! But don't bash others advice simply because you think it's "f***ing stupid."

Everyone, if you have an opinion and need to voice it, do it via PM's! Otherwise....

SHUT THE HECK UP!

Thank you.

agreed, I help when I can, and I get annoyed often, but the useless banter and asshole comments need to stop. its getting to the point that this doesn't seem like a technical forum, evn though its supposed to be.

I agree with your thread...but sadly this is a public forum and unfortunately the bashing and hating comments will always continue regardless.

THANK YOU! James, you rock dude. I was hoping this thread would get some positive attention and (hopefully) create a starting point for the recovery of this section of the forum! I appreciate it.

Travis,

I've seen you do great work in this forum. I almost never have to post anything (not like i'm knowledgeable or anything, but at least be helpful) because you're always helping out members all the time. I just clean up threads here from time to time.

Thanks!

I was beginning to wonder why my personal thread was almost 40 pages long?

LOL! All kidding aside, thanks for the reassurance that this thread hasn't fallen on deaf ears.

can I fit a 20x11 -5 offset on my IS300 with zero modification needed? I'll just run a 195 tire on it to stretch it. maybe Travis can confirm fitment? haha.. just kidding.

all joking aside, I'd have to back Travis up. I, myself, had PM'd Travis in the past about wheels but not about fitment (more about the vendor we purchased from).

This site has gone down the tubes in recent years. Back in the old skool days all it was all about helping each other out. yes there were flame wars, etc. but the end result was always a positive for the OP. It's not just in the wheels section, it's in all other sections as well (PL aside)

I still remember the days when people were helpful, and dumb ricers weren't as prevalent.

Now that younger demographics are driving it, and the car is dirt cheap... a lot of R6's coming into the forum and ruining it for the rest.

Well, IMO, the elder members should to try and be patient with the new wave of ignorance that has flooded this site (not saying it's easy to be patient... I get pretty impatient every now and then too). Now that the IS300 can be had for $7,00... There is a whole new world of opportunity for the younger generations. Really, the only solutions would be to either:

A) Show patience and understanding, or
B) Buy a newer/different car and try to move past it.

(Unless you're a moderator of the forum with an ISx50 and you can't get past either end.. Cough *kayotik* cogh)

Why not try to point them in the direction of Vision Boy, TDLI, Eminence, SophieSleeps, Stage2, Doodlebug, Redline, Coolmonk, Phil, Bradbus, Philzspeed, Mo, and all the other members that have molded the IS300 scene into something GREAT?

That's what newer members should see... The days of classy modifications and pride in your work. How do I know about all of this you ask? Research... Looking at old, inspirational threads for HOURS over the past two years. These guys are mostly all long gone from the IS game, but their builds and work is still inspirational!

Many people don't have the time to devote to searching through my.IS, so let's bring it to them? Maybe we should make a sticky of ALL hall-of-fame IS300 builds/owners.

Jesus.... Vision Boy was the whole reason I bought a GGP IS300. LOL

Who is/was Vision Boy? Don't even think I've heard of him in the 3+ years I've been here. Tried to search for some posts by him, but no posts.
