The tire size on the GS400 is Not 245/35-17.... It's 235/45-17inch.....Those tires aren't that much wider than the ones on the IS and may be able to fit on the IS300 (given the proper wheel size (diameter/width).....

That's why I was asking what the rim width was... 235s on a 17x7 rim would be pushing it I think, while on a 17x8, should be perfect.

I'm running 215s on a 15x7 rim (on my miata) and it lines up nice, my brother runs 225s on a 15x6.5 (on his prelude) and they push out a little too much for my taste.

If you want to increase the width on both tires I would do 225/45 17-inch in the front and 235/45 17-inch in the rear. High Performance RWD sport cars do this wider size in the back.

If you decide you want 18 inch rims on your car it is best to use the 1+1 method. 225/35 18-inch, 235/35 18-inch. It is pretty important to stay close to the diameter size of the tire the car comes with do to the ABS and brake rotors which might alter the performance and the cars handling. Usually, going with a super low-profile tire will give you a more uncomfortable ride feel.

No, I don't foresee changing to 18" rims or running different sizes front and back. I was just wondering if you can go wider and keep the same speedo calibrations (It looks like 245/40 is the closest match to stock).
