Tint?? Lexus Dealer or Local Tint Shop?

Should I get Lexus to do my tint or take it to a local shop? Has anyone had Lexus do their tint for them? If so was it done well and how much??

Call your salesman and ask him where Lexus takes the car to get it tinted. They usually subcontract that work out to a local shop.

The salesman's inherent guilt he feels from ripping you off will make him tell you to get it done elsewhere and save yourself some money

I think I saw the quote when I was first buying my car that the tint was going to run around $400. You can get aftermarket stuff at car & audio shops for around $250 for the highest quality, darktest tint, etc. I told Lexus to bite me with the tinting as I knew the aftermarket stuff was probably going to be cheaper and I could customize it like color, darkness, etc.

The one difference that I do know of is that if you buy your car with tinting, the tint is imbedded into the windows. If you get aftermarket stuff, then the tint is applied to the windows from the inside. Just FYI...

err. I think only with trucks do they have the actual windows that come tinted from the factory. everything else is film.
after market! get metal alloy tint with lifetime scartch, fade protection. you dont want funky purple tint in 2 years.

I used sun gard's top of the line metal black tint $250. 30% front, 20% back, 5% rear glass...
