I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post but...

I need a good tinter in the Bay Area. I'm also curious to know how I identify a good tinter. What sort of questions do I ask and what do I ask for?

Also, how dark can I go? Will it look like crap if I go too dark?

But now I'm not so sure I want to tint. Lots of stories about being pulled over for tint...

Don't worry about tinting. Just tint the front windows no more than 50% if you want to avoid problems and the backs as much as you like. You WILL get pulled over and cited for anything visually dark in the front around here.

You'll enjoy the benefits of a much cooler interior temp on hot days and less glare when driving.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I appreciate your suggestions. Am I going to have trouble if I go 50% in the front? I'm not quite sure what drives the gestapo to mess with tinted cars.

LOL. You shouldn't, but if you have a black/dark interior, the front tint will look darker. Worst case scenario is it will be a fix-it ticket to have the front removed. If you rear windows are considerably darker, your front @ 50% will not look tinted at all (it's generally light enough not to bother most cops).

Another vote for AutoMall Tint Specialist

Like others have said, Sidney does EXCELLENT work. I went with Suntek HPs in the rear and Huper Optik 50% in the front. The Huper Optiks in the front looks like you barely have anything on the windows, but block out a lot of heat. That's a good thing if you want to avoid fix-it tickets.

For what it's worth, he ended up doing like 5 other friends' cars.

Call him up and tell him the guys on the Lexus forums sent you. Better yet, tell him Jeff sent you I just had my other car (Mazda 3) done there. He offers discounts on certain days of the week. You won't be disappointed.
