does your company pay your tuition up front or do they reimburse you?

my company used to pay up front but now they are switching to this other system where they will reimburse me...if you are reimbursed does your school defer your payment? I think USC might defer mine but I am not sure and I may be out $8k at the beginning of the year...bummer

I'm working on a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certificate. It's 10 courses from the Wharton Business School at University of PA. My company is paying for the courses up front. I get two chances to pass the test. If I don't, I have to either pay for the next test or reimburse the company for the course. I'm working on the 5th one right now. (Home study.)

My sister gets partial tuition reimbursement from her employer. She's working on a Master's in Accountancy.

My company reimburses me for tuition, books, and gives me a day off each week for classes. It's a pretty sweet program.

My company reimburses me afterwards, they pay 100% tuition and books.
My university defers payment for 90 days when enrolled in the executive MBA program.
I am a third of the way done, and have not had to pay for a cent. The only drawback is that the company only pays for $5250 a year, I think that is the maximum the IRS allows without having to pay tax for.
