I'm thinking of painting the calipers on my SBM IS300 either red or black, but I can't make up my mind. Does anyone have any picks of SBM with read or black calipers? Any other color suggestions?

I am in the same dilema..I am thinking Red or Blue...I am leaning heavily toward red...it will look so much better with the stickers I have...I am not worried about it is too flashy...if I was... I would have bought a Silver IS not SBM!!!!!

I haven't painted my calipers yet..but most people are using either G2 German Performance engineering or Foliatec. Both are DIY brush on aplications. Specifically for High temp. You don't need to remove the calipers. Paint what can be seen. So with these brush on kits it is real easy. The Lexus stickers are being sold by Ted921...look in the Sales forum.
The G2 paint can be ordered from here

I can't help you with pics of the colors you want, but I can tell you that I recommend VHT Caliper paint. It comes in a standard spray can. Blazing Blue (aka Bright Blue) is a very goo match for a SBM. Check mine out: Rob's Brake Calipers.

would it match better, or worse to IBP ? also, has anyone tried painting the factory color, over the foliatec, and seeing if it holds up?

i'll do blue, if it matches the color of my car exactly, or as close as possible, if not, black will go on.

It was sprayed on with the VHT brake caliper paint, but the brakes were entirely disassembled before painting. My calipers were stained badly by some cleaning chemical that the dealer used during pre-delivery prep, so they had agreed to either replace them or paint them for me. I was going to paint them myself, so that was an offer I couldn't refuse. They pulled everything apart, used several coats of primer, paint, and clearcoat, then reassembled everything and bled the brakes. Looks sweet and has held up pretty well considering it survived a Minnesota winter already.

thanks in advance
If you're talking about the VHT Blazing Blue, no it isn't darker. It is actually slightly lighter in color than SBM. I've used my factory SBM touch up paint on a spot that I nicked when mounting my winter wheels and it (SBM) is darker than the caliper paint. To answer IS300GTE's question, I don't know how it compares to Intense Blue Pearl. I've never seen that color in person.

have you guys heard of savage caliper paint? its only $29.95 hmm it is cheaper?... what yall think [/QB]
Cheaper than what? The VHT caliper paint is only about $6.99 a can. One can did 3-4 light coats on my calipers.

Check out your local hardware store. Since I was looking for a red hue, I was not interested in any other color. But I suggest that you chek out several hardware stores and try to match the color that you are looking for. Have fun
