Although I'm very happy with my IS, here's a few things I hope Lexus engineers look into while updating the current model.

1. More Power (265 + hp) with a 5/6 spd tran.
2. Navigation system
3. Autodimming side/rearview mirror
4. Rain sensing windshield wipers
5. Full leather option for those interested
6. Audio/phone controls on steering wheel
7. Hands free cell phone option
8. Power rear sunshade/hydraulic hood lifter
9. Wood trim all around
10. Better fuel economy

Perhaps if Lexus execs happen to stumble on this list, and are smart enough to know that this will only make me a repeat customer, they'll add all this stuff to the car without jacking the price up too much.

A lot of the things you mention are fitting for a car of a higher class. Lexus GS300, BMW 5 series, Mecerdes Benz E-class. Well... if there was an "Ultra Luxury Package" on the IS300

I know Eric, and I agree with you. But for those of us who prefer a smaller car (which usually translates into better handling, etc.), it should be an option. Like the BMW 3 series, MB C class, and Audi A models.
I'm just saying that adding these things would bring in more customers. Some people don't mind spending the extra bucks for some neat gizmos - I'm one of em, hehe. If they offered these options on the 2001 model, at a more competitive price than the German counterparts, I definitely would've got most of em.

My wish lists:

1. More Power (like, 260+hp will be nice).
2. More Power
3. More Power
4. 5/6 spd manual tranny.
5. 5/6 spd manual tranny.
6. 5/6 spd manual tranny.
7. Better fuel economy
8. Better fuel economy
9. Better fuel economy
10. Special edition, like BMW M cars, which will satisfy our need for speed, handling, power....

I would change nothing. The car gets me from point A to point B. There are other things in life to worry about, other things to change. The IS300, as with any other vehicle on this planet of ours, is just a car.

OK, so this is a wishlist - so I can be a little fanciful here:

1> Lots more power (300hp+)... Lets say switch to an all aluminum 3.2l supercharged engine.
2> CVT transmission. (The manual will suck in stop and go commute traffic, but this eShift if still a slushbox with a mind of its own).
3> Lighter weight for whole car. (More use of aluminum?) Hopefully this would help performance and fuel economy.
4> All wheel drive option.
5> Get rid of the fuel economy gauge (replace with a boost gauge), and swap the tach/speedo dials.
6> Move the battery to the back.
7> Stereo upgrades: Factory subwoofer + GPS/NAV + MP3 player which takes compact flash memory cards.
8> Remove all the residual chrome - on the vent controls, around the shifter... Make the interior roof liner black instead of ivory.
9> A little bit more strengthening of the body (strut braces, etc). I already notice that the GS300 engine can overpower the Altezza body a bit and can make things get a tiny bit "jiggy" with the ride when accelerating hard on uneven surfaces.
10> Do all this while still reducing the price (fat chance
)

(I won't ask for these, since I already "fixed" them in mine:
a> Installed front armrest.
b> Installed subwoofer.
c> Removed aluminum cover plates from pedals and painted them black.
d> Removed "Lexus" "IS300" badges from rear.
e> Defaulted traction control to "off".
f> Disabled DRLs.
g> Added 15hp with eRam.
h> Added on/off switch for heated mirrors.
)

Another item that would be handy...
In addition to the usual way to use the horn, if one could activate it by pushing in the light lever with one's forefinger, one could avoid taking one's hands off the wheel. This feature would be very useful to me...especially when using e-shift...and I expect that it would be invaluable when they come out with the manual transmission.

I agree with you Erick. Also, If Lexus makes some of these items that people are mentioning standard and some of the others options, it would be stupid from a marketing stand point. For one, the car will undoubtedly cost the same or more than the 3 series BMW. Mistake. The BMW name carries more status and prestige than Lexus. So potential buyers would buy the BMW if price weren't a concern. Secondly, By adding all of those options, you've completely created competition for your own ES 300. Third, the IS 300 is a true sports sedan. The others in this class are small Luxury cars with more HP and manual transmissions, called sports sedans so consumers won't feel bad about the cars not being practical.
