I don't know why there has never been a thread about this. Maybe there was.....and lately I've noticed I'm losing my mind a lot..... anyhow....

If you own a Lexus and are a die-hard Lexus-brand enthusiast, I sure hope you've read this book cover to cover.

Amazon.com: The Lexus Story: The Behind the Scenes Story of the #1 Automotive Luxury Bran (0881588000015): Jonathan Mahler: Books

It serves as a great coffee table book and is very nice to look at. I have two editions, one w/ a black chrome emblem (limited edition) and a regular copy I got off Amazon.

I recommend to you all to go out and get it and read it cover to cover!

There is a nice surprise on page 202! My favorite page of the book! :)

Book Synopsis:

When Lexus launched fifteen years ago, the idea of a " Japanese luxury brand that would compete fender for fender with "Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Cadillac seemed preposterous. But Lexus' " "first sedan shocked the world. The result of hundreds of prototypes, " "the work of more than 1,000 engineers, and some $1 billion, the Lexus " LS 400 pioneered new ground.

"Within just a few years, Lexus had transformed itself from an " unlikely outsider into one of the industry's leaders as it redefined the idea of the luxury vehicle while also building a dealer network that gave unprecedented attention to service. The Lexus Story describes the brand's rapid ascent-and its travails along the way. The Lexus Story is the first journalistic telling of the history of this extraordinary company. And it is the only account afforded full "access to the designers, engineers, dealers, and company leaders who " molded the cars and the brand.

The Lexus Story takes readers deep inside the making of first-class "automobiles, from the creative sparks kindled in Lexus' far-flung " design studios to the engineering refinements that translate ideals "of performance and luxury into steel, glass, and rubber. Designed to " be both readable and visually welcoming and with more than 200 "full-color photographs, The Lexus Story is a compelling history of a " world-class brand.

I have one where the logo is black pearl. And one where the logo is as it appears above. I guess that's my "beater" book where I show people "here, take a look at page 202...."

I keep my "black pearl" one in a special leather case that it came with on my desk.

It just arrived...and guess what...it's the limited edition with the black chrome emblem! COOL!

This is one hell of a book. Thanks for heads up!

Why were you out in Calgary??? and WHY didn't you contact me?

Give me a shout next time you're planning to come out. 403-eight six zero-5586

Race city is ok. It's so run down many of us don't even like paying to play anymore. Most drift events are held inside the oval which is in awful shape. Potholes and loose gravel everywhere throughout the pits. They keep saying it's going to get shut down, but every year they get another extension...

NICE! That black chrome emblem is quite neat.
I was out there for work purposes. I was on there for one night.

Work purposes meant we had Race City booked. Most of it was covered in snow, but one of the main straights was plowed for us......and MAN, that is a loooooooooooooong straight!!!

I really like the layout of the track and wish that the track could be kept, but I can see how its sooooo close to the city that people would want it moved. I'd LOVE to have a track THAT nice and THAT close to Toronto!

Yeah in a way I can see how it's taken for granted.

What were you guys doing exactly? Why would calgary be used as a testing area considering all the areas already set aside in Ontario?
