Is it just me or does it seem that a great deal of people have come to this page only to put down the IS300? Am I the only one that sees that many posters don't own an IS nor do they plan on purchasing one? It confounds me to see so many people put down the IS300 on a page dedicated to it. Every other post or reply you'll find someone talking about how fast and cheap the CL-S is, or how an Integra Type-R or M3 handles better, or how some other totally unrelated car beats the pants off the slow, expensive, and forget-me styled IS300. I'd expect such talk on a CL-S forum, or a BMW enthusiast forum, but why are there so many "IS haters" out there on a "IS lovers'" forum???

shadoh6 -- I agree with you. I mean, I don't waste my time going to the bimmer or honda forums dissing them about the car they chose to own. It would be like going to someone else's house and dissing them about the choice they made and that your house is sooo much better than theirs. And continuing this process with every one else's house who's isn't like yours. Simply amazing that people go out looking for confrontation...as much as going out of their way to join a forum that has absolutely nothing to do with them.

I'd like to say that I test drove a little 300 last night, and I was very, very impressed. I've been in the market for a new car for awhile now, and was planning on buying a 330i or C-class or Audi S4. I figured I would take the 300 for a test drive just for the heck of it - not really planning on liking it. But I did.

I'm sure that, were I to pick up a new Lexi, my friends and family would give me hell for buying a car that I had always claimed had no personality. Well, it's true - RX300's have NO personality...but the IS does.

Anyway, I guess I'm an example of someone who never thought this car would amount to much, but really changed his mind. Maybe if more of the folks who bash the littlest Lexus tried it, they wouldn't be so harsh.

Out with those taillights, though. =)

I'm with TEG...they all envy the car, that's why they come and diss it. I've had my black/beige IS300 for about 2 months now. Not a single problem...it seems to get better by the mile.

I'll start out by saying that I was 2 days away from buying an A4.

1)The list of cars I was testing were A4, CL, TL and i30t (had a 3 series and wanted something different). I thought that I would just try the IS300 to make my final choice of the A4 a solid one.
IT BLEW ME AWAY!

2)I've driven in many Lexi and have never been compelled to even think of buying one, but the IS changed all of that.

I think the 2 things I've said above lead me to the reason people come here and bash the IS.

In reverse order:

2) When has Lexus ever built a car like this? I have driven everything right up to the SC400 and none felt like the IS. This leads me to believe that other people think the same way as I did - Lexus CAN'T build a car like the IS.

1) 328-A4-i30t-CL-TL-330-C Class. Are any of these bad? NO. I think that it's a matter of taste. If I got the A4 would it have been a huge mistake? You really can't go wrong with any of these cars. I haven't seen any KIA comparisons to the IS

If anyone out there dropped 30G+ on a car I hope to hell that they think it's the best in it's class!!!! That's why they bought it!! I could give you a list of 5 reasons why the above mentioned cars are better than the IS or 5 that prove the IS is better.

I bought my IS300 because I liked it better and that's my taste no matter how much it sucks compared to an S4.

I like the bickering, it's fun, but I don't think anyone will change their mind because of it.

I assume that I was one of the targetted subjects of this thread.

Every other post or reply you'll find someone talking about how fast and cheap the CL-S is, or how an Integra Type-R or M3 handles better, or how some other totally unrelated car beats the pants off the slow, expensive, and forget-me styled IS300.

I only speak of the CL Type-S when 1. the topic is about a CL Type-S (as in the 3 or 4 topics that read: "IS300 vs CL Type S") or 2. When someone else brings it up in the middle of a thread, either asking a question or outright dissing it with incorrect so called facts.

If you remember, which I do quite well, Italia's "who has raced their IS300?" thread, HE brought up the IS300 vs Type R comparison for the first time. I don't think that anyone before that had even mentioned the Type R. (Except for Bananie in her Signature as being a previous owner of such a car, two if memory serves correctly)

So the whole Type R debate was brought up by an IS300 owner. Not any flame-starting UBB troll who doesn't own a lexus as some ppl were lead to believe.

And do you know how I responded to that? (almost the very next post) - by saying the Integra Type R will soundly beat the IS in just about every category, from straight line to cornering. And its a fact proven by 0-60, 1/4 mile, lateral g's, and slalom.

I don't see how that's inflammatory.

So are you saying that a board member who does not own an IS or intend to own one, has no business here?

I'm a member of clubsi, is300, supraforums, newcelica, acura-cl, and no one else seems to complain, and I've been at those other boards longer than I have here...

Oops where did that come from, I wouldn't happen to drive that everyday, god forbid I be ashamed of such an ugly car far inferior to the IS. I'm just sooo jealous of all your IS300's.

Really though guys... Can't I come here to learn about IS's, offer you a different perspective of the near luxury market, after hanging around the Supra guys quite a bit, I've got a bit of 2jz-gte in me, if you can tell me how I've instigated an unnecessary fight or inflammatory thread with anyone, and prove it was uncalled for and was caused my immature behavior on my part, then I'll leave. But if you check the archives, I've answered ppl's questions, and offered my opinion. Not flammed unnecessarily.

Now I understand. You're giving your TL equal status on an overall basis when compared to the IS. Well, that is too subjective to argue but man, come on. Can we not agree that Lexus has created a measurable distance in overall quality and value over Acura?

100% Jealousy. The IS300 is really one of the best cars in production by far. People flame it and complain because other cars in the same class just dont compare to it in a lot of ways. The hope is that the public consensus of the car will be the same as theirs. WRONG! Anyone who's sees the car in public or drives it loves it. The rest of the "vs" topics are just BS.

its hard to say WHAT the is300 is because of what class you would place it under. usually you'd compare it to the 3 series but then you have to look at te price. for the price the car is a great car, but for more money you can easily find something better.
