Hey guys...not really worried, just wondering if anyone else is noticing this...a discoloration/smoked look on the Teck grounding kit. I have silver wiring with a clear plastic. It is obviously darker near the hotter points of the engine.

Anyone..??

i just got my installed last week and it's in gold.

Maybe it's the heat that's discoloring it.

Too early for me to tell on my kit.

I would say it's common sense.

If you burn metal (silver) it's going to turn yellowish - brown.

If you get the gold one, it'll come out just as it is, if not a tan'd.

It's normal. If you would have gotten solid color ones, probably won't be as bad or not at all. Just the clear plastic, tends to do that when under alot of heat.

I'm very suprised with the amount of plastic inside the hood of the car.

I noticed that it gets very hot in there, but nothing is melting. What type of plastic is the cover made out of?

the clear plastic sheath that covers the cable is prolly not " heat resistant" or treated in any way...

& i would just bet that it is the heat that is discoloring it turning it dark yellow or tan as it endures many heat cycles....

I got blue.... one of the 1st kits of any kind on an IS...
....well it IS 2/3rds Hyperground, & 1/3rd TECK system...:-?

mine all still look PERFECT! :D

sorta like how clear shizzle turns tannish brown after a while.

The rubber sheild wasn't made to be all that close to heat. Consider it sorta like tanning.

Guys, I'm aware of the silver kits slightly tarnishing with use over time. But like a few guys mentioned above, it's normal for something as neutral/light colored to tarnish a bit over time. Silver exhausts, headers, and stuffs will also tarnish to a golden hue as well....should just see it as being tastefully broken in. The functionality and integrity of the wires themselves are not affected in the slightest. All the other colored kits look exactly like they do day one. New silver kits will no longer have a clear insolation since some of you see this as an issue. They will have a dyed silver cover instead.

That being said....I still want to give you guys that already have the silver kits some options. I'm considering and looking into some sort of sleeve or cover for the wires. This would either be released as a DIY kit or maybe have you guys send it back to be sleeved for a minimal cost. I'm still looking into the particular way to go about this though.
