3969Hats off to Lexus as they extend an exclusive invitation to online enthusiasts. Similar to press previews where journalists learn about vehicles before the introduction to the general public, Lexus is providing a similar opportunity to learn more about the new IS up close and personal.

Many of you are aware of the Taste of Lexus events held around the country this time of year. Lexus will take some time at the conclusion of select consumer days to have a technical specialist walk enthusiasts through the details of the new IS and answer your questions.

These events occur on one day only in each of three cities on the Taste of Lexus tour:

Miami, FL at the Calder Race Course on Saturday October 1st

Chicago, IL at Arlington Park on Saturday October 8th

Houston, TX at Reliant Park on Saturday October 15th

The enthusiast event will occur at the conclusion of the day, so Lexus will confirm reservations for you as a regular Taste of Lexus participant in the final group of the day (around 4:00 PM.) You’ll get to enjoy everything Taste has to offer, including test drives in the new IS 250 and IS 350. At 6:00 PM you will be invited to gather around the IS display in the main tent for the technical presentation with a question and answer period that should conclude before 7:30 PM.

Click this link and you will be prompted to indicate which of the dates/locations you’d like to attend. At the completion of your successful enthusiast event registration, you will be directed to sign up as a regular Taste of Lexus participant in the final session of the appropriate consumer day. If you’ve already signed up for another date/time, we’ll help reassign your reservation.

Seating is limited to 30 per venue so Lexus is asking every registrant to make a firm commitment to be there. Even with Lexus confirming the attendee list, please don’t be disappointed if you find the session you’re interested in is already full.

Lexus is confident you’ll be even more impressed with the new IS when you see it in person and experience it for yourself. Thanks for your enthusiasm.

This is BS!

I just got an invite in the mail, and immediately went online to register. Guess what? it's full. I think this system sucks.

I just got back from the Miami event. The new IS350 is sick. Extremely quick and I liked it a lot better than the GS430. I am definately considering one when my IS300 lease is up.

The event was excellent you can compare all the cars. The IS250 and 350 where on a performance track and you can compare against the BMW 330i. In my opinion the IS350 blows the 330i away. The 250 I feel is a little weak. On the luxury track you can run the SC430, LS430 and the LX and GX trucks. The longest track they had was for the GS and RX400h. They had both the GS300 and 430. The 430 was nice but the 300 definately needs more power. They had a Mercedes E500 and a BMW 530i to compare the GS to.

I feel Lexus had a great event with food, massages, golf lessons etc..

Anybody that has an event coming to there city should definately take advantage of this opportunity.

the miami event

I went to the Miami event yesterday as well. It was a nice time. I got to drive the IS 350. The moment i stepped on it, that thing MOVES. i dragged my friend to the event and his knuckles are white from holding onto the the armrest. the car is powerful and the interior, despite its prototype fittings (basically not the usual Lexus standards), is lovely. They provided a 330i for comparison, but i didnt bother, since i already test drove it couple months ago, and in my opinion, the IS is vastly better. It might not be the most lightweight, it might not have the fabled 50:50 balance, but in real world terms, the IS is a much better car.

then my friend test drove the RX 400h, and i thought he was gonna throw me out of the car when he hit the salom course :).
