I want to mount my detector just to the right of the instrument housing unit. So rather then running the power cord for my detector to the normal place in the dome light I want to run it to a hot wire in the console. What wire can I splic into? I was thinking one of the 12v wires for the radio, but I am pretty electronically ignorant and need to know exactly which wire. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks

You'll be better off running it to the cig lighter wires. That way there are less wires to deal with and less chances of screwing up.

+12v is the pink wire on the cig plug.
