Is it critical to do larger winter tires on the rear vs. the front, for the WINTER package... in order to keep in line with what's stock? Or might I also get by just getting a set of four standard same size 16's all the way around? Figure it'd be cheaper and I can rotate them from front to rear if needed?

Suggestions?

a wider tire will act more like a ski, than a tire on the snow. a more narrow tire will penetrate the snow better for traction. send a PM to Brandon from TireRack and he'll hook you up with a proper package, i'm sure.

Thanks, yeah, that's why I'm thinking same size for all four, unlike the stock size, with wider rear tires.

Friends of mine actually picked up a set of wheels off ebay for cheap


remember the bolt pattern is common :

Tiburon/Eclipse/TC


He got some off a tiburon, nice 5 spoke wheel for winter

I am sure you have or will have the "Big Brakes" up front on the IS350..

So you will have to find a set of 16" Rims, with the right offset, to clear the HUGE front calipers...

You may have JUST talked me into sacrificing the stock rims and adding some winter tread! Actually TireRack asked me to come there and get the car measured for them. They haven't gotten their hands on one yet to set up a package!?

Good to know. As mentioned though, I suppose the biggest struggle will be getting something that works with the HUGE brakes! Tire Rack doesn't yet appear to have a package worked out...
