Hey guys, we should stop replying his posts, he is taking too much bandwidth. Look at how many posts are about him, that is what he wants.
Anyways, I didn't make this new topic cuz I want to waste bandwidth too. Regarding to the 6 speed IS in the future, how do we know it'll be good? Since Lexus has never came out with a manual car before (at least not any that I know of).

Heheh...generally anything with 6 speeds is a good thing; how could they go wrong with that.

PingPong, Lexus had manual tranny on ES and SC a few years back, and I don't believe they will use the 6 speed from Supra probably because it is a bit too long. I have seen the 5 speed tranny put on IS already, so if Toyota is smart, they could just go with that one. This is for sure to hold 265hp at crank, so is definitely good for the stock motor.

Daniel, I get your point, but if they come out with only the 5 speed, how can they stand a chance when they are in the market along with BMW or Audi? Plus other car makers are coming out with 6 speed, wouln't Lexus want to be able to compete?

PingPong, which BMW are you comparing to? 330i comes with 5 speed and so does the A4. Don't think 6 speed is better because it is actually not in all cases. To have more off line acceleration, 5 speed usually works better because you do not have to shift one extra time. The only time a 6 speed really help is if the ratio is extremely close like that of the Lancer, but that is usually not practical for street. Most current 6 speed has 2 overdrive, so it is just good for high speed cruising.

can i tell you guys a SECRET? I have a friend who works for the production-stunt company that does the commercials for all the VW ads and some of the Lexus. They've done pretty much all the most recent VW ads (you know...Passat in the Street of San Fran style chase...Mr Roboto...etc). Anyway, my friend was moving around this "new lexus" a while back (last June) and guess what his experience was... ---(wayne's world timewarp)--- 1) need to move this new car around shop 2) huh...what's this? 3) gets in...huh...neat gaugecluster 4) oh...its a lexus...must be new 5) just about to start car...grab GEARSHIFT looks at top....Hey this is a SIX SPEED! Yes, you read it right. My friend drove a pre-production 6spd IS300. This was a USA market IS....left hand drive. THIS is what i'm waiting for...and why my callsign is still ROTARYBZZZ. I guess this has been my "burning secret" for awhile....

[From TEG: My guess would be that he was in an IS200 or Altezza. The 2002 IS300 manual is said to be a 5-speed. If it wan't an IS200/Altezza then maybe it was the TRD IS300 pace car where they put in a manual trans Supra drivetrain. ]
