I just purchased a used IS350. I noticed a noise in the cabin and proceded to read a few posts about the slight noise the steering wheel lock motor makes and I'm confident this is the noise I'm hearing. However, the noise in my car seems louder than one would expect. Do most people notice this noise or should it be very quiet? If its normally kinda loud thats fine, I just want to make sure it's nothing I should get checked out.

Also, does anyone know if you can buy the lexus extended warranty if the car is just out of basic warranty (2006) but still under powertrain warranty, and will the extended warranty cover tsib's.

The lock noise is normally quite noticeable.

As for the extended warranty, I believe you have to buy it before basic warranty expires. Extended warranty typically does not cover any TSB's.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping the wheel lock noise was normal. It just seemed louder than I would expect given how quiet everything else in the car is. It seems to working fine, so I guess its ok. Thanks again

It was also louder than I was expecting as well, considering how quiet things like the seat motors, etc. are in the car. I just expect it now though, so I don't even really pay attention to it anymore.

Is this steering lock noise made when turning the wheel at low speeds? A light popping noise almost... I just started noticing, maybe i never looked for it before. I just want to know if my noise is normal like yours.

No, the lock noise is made when turning the car on and off to lock or unlock the column. There should be no noises while driving.
