When did you get your IS300 and what month does your state inspection sticker (oops ... I meant car registration) say? I was driving home today and noticed mine expires June 2001. I got my IS300 July 31, 2000.

Cardinal_Creek,
I don't understand it either (paying for 12 months and having it valid for 11 months before having to renew it again).

Silver_IS300,
A state inspection sticker (Uncle Sam gets another chunk outta you) is required by law in Texas to bring your car to get it inspected annually for working windshield wipers, left and right blinkers, etc. It is located on the lower left side of the windshield.

Back in the 60s and 70s the California Highway patrol used to make roadblocks and stop cars for safety inspections. I haven't seen them do anything like that in a long time. They basically only check your car if something is falling off, it is smoking, it is making strange noises or if it has some real obvious mod (like no bumpers).

Here in Missouri, you have two stickers. One for safety inspection and the other for emissions. It would have been nice if they could have combined them into one sticker.

One nice thing they did, though, was that they now have these pollution sniffing vans on the side of the road. So, if your car runs cleanly you receive the sticker by mail rather than having to go to an emissions testing facility.

Nancy,

Not meaning to question you or anything, but, are you SURE its not 2002 when it expires? I live in Texas also, and when I bought my car last year, it had a 2 yr inspection, and I have seen that on many other cars sitting on lots. Maybe they changed it beginning 2000 or something, but, if youre like me, it should be a 2 yr period.

IIISeries,

I was told that my car came off the truck in late July (it was not a demo or used or sitting on the lot) so I know it did not arrive in June. After it arrived, I had to wait 2 days for it to be prepped and windows tinited in late July before I could pick it up for the first time on July 31.
