just wanted to let you guys know that SRT now has a solution for all the autos. just got my valve body upgrade done at SRT today and the shifts are clean and precise, no more bouncing off the rev limiter. granted the shifts are a little harsh when you're not boostin, but that's to be expected with a valve body upgrade. everything shifts around 6200 RPMS. and the e-shift also shifts perfectly.

everything done to the valve body to get it working is done mechanically...NOTHING electronic.

if you have questions fire away and ask. doublins and wino also witnessed this thing first hand.

thanks MO!!! if you want prices, please give SRT a call!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that SRT finally has a shifting solution for the auto. Does your car shift with the same "firmness", if you will, regardless of tps? How is it in 5-15mph traffic when the tranny starts hunting from 2nd to 3rd to 1st to 2nd, etc. . . ?

Nate, congrats, glad you let the cat out of the bag w/ regard to the kit. Your car is a true sleeper.

Anyway, the car shifts PERFECT, even at WOT the 1-2 shift doesn't hang at all.

Shifts when e-shifting, gate shifting, or just in "D" perfectly

I am so happy SRT finally has a solution available to the auto customers, as I really feel that that has been the only negative to autos bringing their cars to SRT. Now they can put down reliable power and shift solidly.

No gear hunting, no bone-jarring shifts. Just shifting, the way an auto should.

Good work and R&D Mo, glad to see your time and effort paying off.

and LiL'IS300 too...he was gonna go there too.....its nice to see the auto guys will be shifiting better....

well, IS_DUDE along with Fairuza11 went to get his shifting done perfectly too down at toyomoto, seems as if they perfected the auto shifting method, along with the auto's on the PFS cars like yours....

Excellent news. I'm glad that your car is running fine.

I too am thinking of getting the SRT Stage 2 installed on my 01 IS300 in the spring time, but I was a bit concerned about doing it after reading the issues regarding shifting hesitations.
But let me ask you this, was this valve body upgrade at an extra cost to you, or is this something that SRT is doing to correct the problem that some automatic IS300's seem to have with their kit installed?

the valve body upgrade is completely separate from the turbo kit...so yes, it is a separate expense. call srt for details. 301-982-4600

Thanks for the info Wino.

Disapointing news though.
It seems to me that SRT should be correcting this issue at no further charge to the customer as the cars are not performing normally after the instalation of the turbo kit.

Am I way off base by thinking this?

well, its something not neccesarily cheap....it including dismantling the transmission and phsically opening up and putting in the valve body....its not as easy as it sounds.....and to do it in 2-3 hours sounds pretty damn impressive.....good job Mo....but seriously, this isnt hot shit, this is a procedure that has been done by toyomoto and PHR on the automatic trans for a few years already and successfull shifting.....its nice that SRT FINALLY figuired it out after all the trials and errors in recent years....so, hats off for that at least, right? :chill:

I agree w/ you, but that is why the kit is cheaper than most others. That and the $10 ecu.

how much is the shift kit? I know Toyo's is $250 I believe.

I noticed that in your sig you have the SRT Stage 2, are you having any issues with yours?
I'm assuming "yes" due to the line of sarcasm at the bottom. :D If you are having issues, what has SRT done to accomodate you?

How long did it take SRT to do the install on the Stage 2? If I do decide to go with SRT, I'll be making my way out there to Maryland to have it installed. (friends and family in NOVA so easy on me.) Need a good estimate on how much time I'll need to take off work.

I think they can do the install in a day or 2 (not 100% sure). I did the install and they "tuned" it. Damn torque wrenches and the instructions weren't the easiest IMO.

There were a few issues, biggest is shifting. It never shifted properly. I told there was an electronic kit that should be out in 2-3 weeks when I ordered...many many months ago. When the car was test driven, I kept asking "how is it shifting ok???" I was told..."I'm not doing anything, it works fine". Yet, when I drove it, it hung like a klan victim. I was then told to lift of the gas, etc.. No electronic shift kit to date either. BLAH.

Also, my car seems to be the only gay car that needed some werid tuning. After I put the piggy back on, the car barely started, the TB was all acting weird. But when I took it off, it worked fine. But being far far away and having no interface for the piggyback ecu, I was told to keep checking thigs and to buy gauges and testers so I can check this and that. I rechecked everything I could, but I'm not gonna buy a big expensive gauge when I know the fuel pump works, etc. (Although, I can see the poing on that sort-of) So, I drove the car to SRT (11is hours) running eithe really lean or rich (not sure...pb didn't work). and had it tuned all weird. Said I may have a bad 02 sensor, who knows. All I know is it wasn't anything I did.

I haven't gotten my dyno results, and my car doesn't shift which is the biggest problem and continue to hold a grudge about. That and the crappy ecu..but hey, I got the cheapest kit...I get the cheapest components were they can be used I guess.

Long drive from CO eh?

Thanks for the feedback mattssi.

Sorry to hear that you had so many issues with SRT.
If you were to do it all over again, would you still go with SRT or would you maybe drop a bit more cash and go with Pete Ferrel or Toyomoto for instnace? Suppose I would pick a tuner in that general Maryland/Virginia area since I have friends and family out there. That's why I would make the hellaciously long trip. To see them and get a turbo put on. 8)

I like the fact that oneeyejack has had a positive experience with his kit, but as I read this board more and more, I get the impression that SRT kit's are more problematic than the others. Would you or any others care to elaboarte more on that statement?! All information is welcomed.

so your shifts aren't controlled electronically at all??

doesn't that mean...your shifts are pretty harsh when you're driving normally too? i think PFS has cut that down to a minimum.
