Trying to retrofit
gas cylinders on the hood and trunk
would be a real engineering effort...
Something Lexus may do in future years,
but unlikely that you will be able
to do it yourself.
There isn't much in the way of onboard
computer in the 2001 IS300. There is a BMW
style "instant fuel mileage" gauge
which doesn't tell you much other than
how hard you are pushing down on the gas
pedal.
The climate control does let you set a temperature and then it will heat or
cool as needed to get that temp,
so at least it is a bit better than
a typical econobox venting system.
