Some Guy In A Z28 Tried Me!

And I really don't care! Reason being First I only have 850 miles on my IS so far, Second I would be crazy to waste my time, Third when you hear that blow off valve sound from a turbo charged Z28 you know you're really wasting your time, and Fourth I don't think this guy gave me a fair chance.

I'm cruising home from work about 4:30am on a semi-lit road. This guy comes up from behind me, then goes to the otherside of the street and guns it. I'm thinking does he think I'm stupid. I guess I just don't care about that stuff anymore.

Don't get me wrong but I think my car is pretty fast compared to my two other previous cars. But I don't feel I would have a chance no matter what.

I'm wondering what everyone else on this forum would have done. I already realize alot of people would give the guy a good run, but I mean really, I 'm still "breaking" in my car.

Lets hear it!!!

hehe =) i had my homecoming last night so i had fuuuun with the car. i'm still getting used to the power in first gear at WOT(i literally bounced off the rev limiter in 1st like 5 times). one of my friends with his grand prix thought he'd try me....ha ha.

stoplight.....i launch in first, nail second, get off the throttle, my friend's like 10 carlengths behind. i shift into third and wait for him to accelerate. when i see his car start to really move in my rear view, i stomp on it, he got on it about 2 seconds before i did and was like 2 carlengths behind before i pulled on his azz and killed hima gain
he he

later that night...here's the irresponsible thing i did. there's a long empty road called skypark in torrance. i started in second and by the time i finished i was at the top of fourth(120)....the car handles AMAZINGLY good at these speeds and feels very secure although i'm not going to do that very often
hehe.

Sounds like you had alot of fun, I'm wondering if the other guys car was stick. Not that it makes a huge diff. but just curious.

Would you have taken on the Z28 like I didn't?
I can understand not wanting to run because your car is not fully broken in, but who cares if you win or lose!! It's all in good fun (for some of us at least)!! I'll race anything... I don't care what it is... as long as there is no significant traffic around us. I'd love to run against an M5 or Viper or Z8 just to see how fast they are.

Clam, please be careful out there. Even though Skypark is wide open at night (I know this area, I grew up in PV), a dog may run into the road, or there may be some foreign object or a really bad pothole in the road. Please keep the superextralegal speeds to rural freeways.
I would have raced him. I dont care if the car would smoke me. I will actually try to race 911's and other car i know are faster than me, off the line or on the freeway. I know i dont even have a remote chance to win but it is still fun.
Alright, I see what you all mean. Maybe I take the whole thing too serious. Just for fun is cool, and I guess it would be a kick just to try. That's later on for me though.
that's why i said the "irresponsible" thing i did...he he. yeah, i dont' do that very often, just when i feel like being crazy

the dumbest thing i've ever ever ever done is take my 951 to 161 MPH (with more left on tap) on M-14W here at 2 AM...wide open, but jesus...talk about cop fodder.

'twas fun, tho
I took my 330i to the limiter (I think 126 or 128 mph, though it read 130 on my speedo) on I-5 and it was ... er .... boring. What's a blast is taking it up to 105 mph on a race track with the windows wide open and a tight corner fast approaching. You really feel the speed.

Mr. Clam, I hope you plan to test the limits of your M3 on the track. It was what your car was born for.
161mph! That sounds so exciting just thinking about it. I can't fully imagine what that would be like, since the IS is the fastest car I have ever had. I have not been to these incredible speeds. Plus in South Florida you're kind of limited on good roads for very high speed.

The fastest I have ever gone was when I was about 18 y/o. I was using my friends new Corolla to take someone home about 60 miles from Miami, so being Presidents day and all my friend said I could haul butt if I wanted. There was barely anyone on the highway at 10pm. The whole way up no one was on I-95 North I did about 100mph. About halfway on the way back I slowed down to 60mph just to see how slow it felt compared to 100mph. I could'nt imagine driving the rest of the way at 60mph it felt like 30mph on a regular road, So I went back to 100mph and about 1 mile from my exit I got to about 110mph and what do ya know , I get pulled ove by FHP. Damn! He told me that he only clocked me at 102mph 'cause there was a car that blocked his reading. That ticket cost me close to $400 big ones. I mean big ones 'cause this is just before I got out of H/S and did not have the money let alone a job to pay the ticket.

Maybe it's things like that which make me not want to go fast alot. One day I can only hope to drive the Autobahn.

Fastest I ever went was 128 MPH and I will never do that again.
at 161 MPH you've got nothing but horrible, blinding tunnel-vision...that speed is the realm of trained drivers, not weekend speedsters like me...bad idea. don't try this at home.
yeah i started getting that effect at 120... =) i have to go to a track sometime, i dont' knwo any near where i live, but i suppose i'll find one

Clammer, where and why were you driving 120mph? Your dad should put a leash on you boy....
Eric...
I recently hit 140 in my Eclipse

Ive driven that fast before, but it was in my Talon, which felt MUCH more stable at that speed because of the AWD. 140+ mph in a light FWD is kinda spooky.

I like to roll by ricers and wannabes and go with a little throttle up, ya know, just let'em know what an old pushrod V8 sounds like. Then squish um like bugs!!!!! WAHAHAHAAHA. Just kidding, nobody wants to race me.
erick, read my first response(the second post in this thread)
I have gone about 115 in my old '87 Integra, then I felt the car shake a little and realized something could happen any second, and slowed down.

But there's nothing like sticking your head out the window at 100 while your friend is driving. It's dangerous I guess, but I was a little younger. What a rush!
The fastest I've been is about 45mph on my bicycle going down a steep hill. And the cops ticketed me because the limit was 30mph.
