Shitty gas available in the US..my car has never seen or operated on anything less than 98 octane. 95% of the time the car has 104 octane from the pump running thru her. The best i can get here is 94 octane piss water. Will an octane booster bring the rating up 4 points to 98? I know it wont bring it up to 104...what am i supposed to do? any HELPFUL suggestions are very apperciated

Its not always safe to run octane booster all the time ( I would not think it would be)

You are going to get pinging, and knocking

So unless you can do some tuning its going to be hurting

Why do you NEED such a high octane? Does the altezza require more than 93? There are a few gas station down here that sell over 100 octance unleaded for about $5/gallon (well probably > than $5 now.)

the gas off base in japan is all pretty high octane. when i got gas off base it was always at least 98 and if my pockets were deep enough i would get super which is 104. about 6 bucks a gallon.
tsop i will be back to actually drive the car in nove/dec time frame
i know where that gas station on rt46 is..just didnt know they sold high octane..they dont have anything higher than 104 tho? thanks for the suggestions peeps. much apperciated :)
on the dynbo i made 26ps more to the wheels running 104 btw. it makes a difference. its like crack for your car

yeah, but IMO, a true street car runs on pump gas, not race gas

im sure many people on here could produce amazign numbers on race gas, but that kinda takes the fun out of it

Don't forget that different parts of the world use different Octane ratings. So a 94 in one place for example might be a 104 in another country. So make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

tarik in japan they do not use the RM/2 method we use here in the US, which susequently, produces lower octane numbers. The equivelent of our 93 is approximatley 97.886 or round it up to 98...FYI I forget the exact name of the formula used. I think i have the link to the conversion website let me look... a similar comparrison would be in the electronics world, of RMS to peak.

edit: I get 110 leaded for the track at mobil down here.. 599 a gallon.. butonly for the track... I know that I am hard on the car at the track and the lead in the gas acts as top cylinder lube.. also helpe keep enigne temps down..

hmmm... so that means i could get away with using 98 at the pump in NJ and be OK?
another problem: the battery posts on US batteries is alot taller than the Japanese ones...it should still fit tho correct?

i honestly dont see the point in using race gas unless you are trying to reach some crazy dyno numbers, or racing on a track. daily driving or going to a meet is just a waste of money in my opinion...if you could burn money like its nothing, then why did you get an altezza?
