You will need...

1. V160/V161
2. Custom Driveshaft
3. Transmission parts (Lots of these) - check with toyota...I just got all of mine...like 3 pages worth of parts form toyota. If you buy a used tranny, it may already come with these. If you buy new like me, you will need all of these. Let me scan in the parts so everyone can see...gimme a few days.
4. Clutch/Pressure Plate
5. Flywheel
6. Shifter

7. (V160) Rear End and Half Shafts

Do you have a shop or a garage? How much does your kit cost and what does it include?

Holy cow ... 3 pages? You must be referring to all the little nuts and bolts and seals etc ..

There are several configurations you could try. For example you could choose to do V160 without rear end and just custom prop shaft, but your ratios would be out of whack. I think there is a final drive mod available but I don't know a lot of detail about this.

Don't you need to modify the shifter or can you use stock shifter? Need customs mounts or modded stock ones for:

1. rear mount
2. shifter mount
3. carrier/differential??

Do the drive axles (half shafts) fit IS300 spindles ... hope they do!

There's only a few people who have done this swap. Maybe someone can compile a list once it is complete ... I'd be happy to volunteer! :)

.... there's always GTE's kit of course! ;)

Standalone ecu, it will control your engine better, ignition timing and other engine functions will be tunned to your 6spd transmission. You will need the 6spd sub-tunnel, the 6spd transmission sits few inches higher, the 6spd sub-tunnel will clear the tranny.Shifter and related parts will be need, the shifter linkaga etc...
You will also need the 6spd transmission mount.
You also should go with a new clutch and flywheel of your choosing that should be installed in the six speed. If you have an auto you have to have the supra rear as well otherwise your gear ratios will not work properly. You will also need a 5 speed clutch pedal and a slave cylinder. The subtrain on the rear needs to be modified in order to make it fit, need the supra axles etc.. You will also need to fabricate a custom driveshaft.

the kits are actually pretty much complete

all i have to do now is test them and make sure there is no driveshaft vibration and then start duplicating them

the reason you have not seen much info on this site about it, is because i don't want it to seem like i am trying to use the site for free advertising or whatever

i will have information available at http://www.is300gte.com when the new site is finished and up, i expect that to be no later than thanksgiving

anyone that is seriously interested in either kit can PM me with the type of trans and then the works trans kit (for example R154 trans kit or V160 trans kit) in the heading and i will save the PM and get back to you.

i'll also probably have a 6 speed rear swap kit as well, sometime next year

Hey GTE, Hows it going?

I have a question, Do you think it's hard to put v160 in a automatic Is300?

Just a side note to anyone picking up a used trans from a Supra.... Get yourself 2 Quarts of TOYOTA Trans fluid. Folks at Getrag were contacted about this and they specifically pointed to that particular fluid with no alternatives. Of course, people have run other fluids and a good portion of those had problems. Part number is 08885-01306, and you'll need "two" (I think it's like $60 a quart). Also, shift shaft seal on the shift rod. Invest in a new one. It's like $7 or so. Unfortunately, all my receipts just say "seal" with no description. A search of Supraforums will turn it up. Notorious for leaking and a royal PITA to get to when the trans is in the car. You just double up on the seals and run the new one behind teh old one. Trying to get the old seal out will take the better half of a day and there will be no guarantee that it will seal with one. Most people have had "the drip" stop with two in place. Of course, output shaft seal isn't a bad idea while you have it as well. Once again, $10 or so. Hope this helps, take care!
