sand it down the material...do a couple thin coats of paint, clear it.

all you wanna be able to do is see the fibers right?? a bad paint job does just that...go look at the Ferrari F40's...you can still see the fibers in some places.

yes i want to still be able to see the fibers but i dont want it to look like shit. i was just asking because i've seen blue red and yellow hoods.

There is currently no manufacturer who makes a silver carbon fiber hood for the IS.

Although, the material is used extensively on R/C cars. :lol:

You could have a body shop put a heavier silver pearl on top of a regular carbon hood.

I've seen darker cars do it..but never a silver. It might look good.

i like the idea of having a carbon fiber hood that blends in with the color of the car. either painted or the way carbon creations did theirs. i dont like how cf hoods look like you just got a unpainted piece from the junk yard.

ive done with blue......not sure if it will work with silver but what i did was mix just a little bit of blue into my clear coat and sprayed it over the carbon. its like making candy paint. still transparent but has a color tint to it. if done right it looks awesome!!!
